I am extremely picky about walking shoes. The last time I needed a new pair I tried on no less than 50 pairs before deciding on some $95 Asics, and even then I’ve never been entirely happy with them. When I pulled these out of the box the first thing I noticed was how lightweight they are. Then I felt the insole and it didn’t have much give at all. That disappointed and concerned me, as I was hoping they would be cushiony. Then I tried them on, walked around the house, and realized they were pretty near perfect. Plenty of toe room just as promised. And, a narrow enough heel to keep them from slipping. Even though the insoles didn’t seem very cushioned, they actually have plenty to keep me comfortable. It is cold, snowy and messy here right now, and these are definitely warm (and dry) weather shoes due to the lightweight mesh. Once most of the snow melted I took a walk around the neighborhood, and I could definitely feel the cold air right through these shoes. But they will be great this summer! As for sizing…I joke that I am a size 8.75, all of my shoes are either 8.5 or 9. Lately, my issue with many shoes is that the 8.5 is a little too short, but the size 9 will slip in the heel. I have realized that often it’s because the heels are too wide. I measured my foot as instructed on the KEEN size chart and decided to go with size 9. Because of the wide toe box and narrower heel, I probably could have worn an 8.5, but the 9 fits well. My feet started to slide in them a little during my walk, but I had purposely tied them loosely, so I feel sure tightening up the laces should take care of that. If I find it’s still an issue, I can always add an insert. My feet, legs, hips were not sore at all, and I felt secure with the traction on the soles. These are a higher price point then some other athletic shoes, but I am so happy with these. I plan to look into a pair to use in the winter months.
These aren’t my favorite but I don’t hate them either. They will be good outside shoes as they have excellent traction. For everyday wear I’ll stick with my Brooks though. These shoes have a wide toe box which makes them more comfortable for your toes than standard sneakers. They don’t have enough arch support for me but my feet are quite flat so that’s usually the case with shoes. I added an insert which made them a little more comfortable but then I had to tie them really tight to keep my feet from sliding around which made them a little uncomfortable on the tops of my feet. I usually wear a 7.5 in sneakers but went with an 8 in these after looking at the size chart. They are a little big and I feel like a 7.5 would’ve been better. They’re well made and look very durable just unfortunately not the most comfortable for my picky feet.
I’ve worn out a few pairs of Keens (Oakridge & two Presidios). I like Keens despite the trials that sometimes go along with finding the style that works for you. But when they’re good, they’re good. This Versacore style is comfortable right out of the box and so lightweight it’s hard to see them as hiking shoes. This is also my first pair of mesh shoes. I’m just used to wearing leather and feeling much more shoe around my foot. Still, technology changes, even in shoes. My daily walks are through a circuit of concrete walkways and they have been comfortable for that. One of the reasons I’ve returned Keens in the past is because some of the low profile styles cut into the foot just below the ankle bone. I mention this only because it has turned up more than once in reviews. If you have had that experience, I just wanted to let you know that this style does not do that.I ordered these a half size larger than I usually get because my size wasn’t available in black. And I’m so glad I did. While the toe box seems generous in width, my toe is pushing against the upper edge of this shoe. I’m sure the extra space from the additional half size is one of the reasons they’re so comfortable. The mesh material also has more “give” from the start and does not need to be broken in like leather or a solid synthetic. The only thing that would make me rate them less than a “5” is durability and it’s much too early to know that.
I'll admit I was just a bit cautious about purchasing these shoes online. However, when they arrived and I unboxed them and tried them on, my anxiety turned to relief. These shoes have felt good on my feet since the first moment I put them on.They are very attractive to look at. More importantly, they are totally comfortable. I am diabetic and very careful about what shoes I wear and how my feet feel in them. With these shoes, I can put them on at the beginning of my day and wear them all day long to do whatever comes along. I use them as my walking shoes as well. The toe bed is wide enough so I can move my toes around comfortably. There has been no rubbing on my heels or anywhere else on either foot.I've been wearing these for about ten days now (except at night, lol) as my everyday go-to shoes. I am very happy to own them and would definitely purchase from KEEN again. Five stars all the way.
I am impressed with these, they are so comfortable, they have padding in the right places, and there's room for my wide feet even though this is regular size 8.5 I usually wear 8.5 W wide or C/D width in USA Women's sizing. There is plenty of toe room, they are a perfect fit.Breathable, has good traction, and has wonderful color options. I picked the grey and teal blue- Alloy/reef waters which is pretty much the same as pictured. I had a great feeling about them fitting because it states there is a generous size toe box for toes to spread out. So if you have a wide width no larger than the C/D width (double wide or larger may not work out). The toe bumper is a great feature to help protect the toes from running into things or any damage that may accidentally occur in life.My only complaint is the laces are a little bit short, as I need these loosened a little bit for the wide width of my foot. I might have to get a new pair of laces if they come undone on me or undo one loophole down which also can remedy the issue.Comfortable, breathable, good grip, nice stylish color options.
