I purchased these for my husband for his first Father’s Day. His take on the New Balance dad shoe. These fit true to size and are comfortable. They are comparable in fit, style and quality of the Adidas skater shoe which is what he previously wore. These look sharp while wearing and go with many outfit and colors.
The New Balance Brandon Westgate 508 pro model skate shoe is amazing for street skating and doing 360 flips off kickers. I love the natural skateboard feel that these skate shoes have. As soon as I get them and put them on the skate shoe already feels broken in. It like molds to your foot with that nice narrow body style that gives it that awesome board feel. The lace protection is not bad and I love using these skate shoes in skateboarding competitions. The Brandon Westgate pro model is a very reliable skateboarding shoe and I would definitely suggest it for street, park, and mini ramp skateboarding. I like playing basket ball with these shoes so you get B ball shoes and Skate shoes all in one. Happy Skateboarding.
I usually get size 11s in Adidas skate shoes as I like to have that thumb's width of space in the toe box. New Balance however run large and you can see this yourself by looking at their size chart. I get way too much heel slippage with an 11 so I went down to a 10.5 and the heel slippage is minimal and it'll go away once I break in the shoes. The same goes for the Tiago 808s. They're on the narrow side, but going true to size is still too long. GO HALF A SIZE DOWN.
I normally like New Balance shoes and like the fact I can find sizes for my wide feet. My issue with these "New Balance 508 Brandon Westgate" was the glaring cheap finish and materials!Even noticeable in the product photos, if you zoom in, is the fact that the yellow-tan bare foam rubber is exposed at the top of the tongue! I overlooked this when shopping but right out of the box I knew "this ain't right." Thinking I had defects, I went to the AMZN listing and sure enough, you can see it! No stitching, trim or any attempt to cover the exposed foam rubber! Also, much of the trim and finish was unbreathable plastic. New Balance dropped the ball on these, I do not know how these made the final cut as they look and feel very CHEAP and unfinished. As for comfort, I cannot tell you as I never put these cheap looking, ugly things on my feet. I sent them back without hesitation. I have other New Balance shoes which I am happy with. But wow, I don't know what they were thinking when they approved the Brandon Westgate for sale to the public.
