Detailed Review

When it comes to rugged work conditions, the Timberland PRO Men's Gravel Pit boots stand out due to their unwavering strength and reliability. The first thing you'll notice is the high-quality leather that forms the waterproof upper. This isn't just about looks; it’s built to withstand the harshest weather without compromising your comfort.

The steel toe adds an essential layer of safety against workplace hazards while ensuring you can focus on your tasks without worrying about foot injuries. The flex band in the shaft truly makes a difference when it comes to comfort during prolonged use. This feature allows for greater mobility – a vital aspect for those who are constantly on their feet.

The Internal Suspension Network™ technology is another highlight that enhances your overall experience. It provides excellent support, minimizing fatigue even after long hours of wear. If you often work in cold environments, you'll appreciate the zoned insulation which maintains warmth without bulkiness, keeping you snug all day.

However, it's important to note that these boots are relatively heavy compared to similar models in their category. They also require a short break-in period before achieving maximum comfort. Despite these minor drawbacks, the benefits far outweigh them, making the Timberland PRO 53531 an outstanding choice for anyone needing a reliable and durable work boot.

Awesome

These are the best dang boots ever. Big, sturdy, padded, solid. My feet feel very safe and very comfortable. They’re a little heavy and take some getting used to, but totally worth it. I ordered three different boots from name brands to try on, and I knew these were the winner as soon as I opened the box. Pics don’t do them justice, you gotta get some if you need safety boots.

Got to be the toughest boot ever made. Ive had 6 pair in 12 years.

These are heavy duty work boots, and they are a tad heavy to lug around all day. However I have indeed been lugging them around for 12 years. I have bought about 6 pair of them now, and they are extremely tuff, and they keep my feet warm and dry. These are hands down the toughest boot Ive ever had. And Ive worked in steel mills with hot metal and rough concrete , and sharp jagged edges everywhere, Ive used them in the Oilfield, and I have used them while I was driving a concrete mixer truck....where they got wet daily with concrete, mud, and water. They also go the extra mile in designing the inside of the boot. My feet don't get cold when its 15 degrees Fahrenheit and even down to zero. Yet they also don't sweat when its 108 here in Oklahoma summertime. I have no idea how they do that. And also my feet don't hurt at the end of the day either. Ive stood on concrete all day working 70+ hours a week. And 90+ hours a week in the oilfield. Im 50 years old now, and I still wear these clunkers. The inside never wears out, and the sole never wears out. I dragged my feet down a gravel road while riding a dirt bike for a long ways just to see if it would grind them down, and it didn't. The inside is warm, and soft and cushiony, yet has kind of a shock absorber material in there. I weigh about 260 pounds and Im really hard on boots. If you want a tough azz boot this is it. The sole is so thick you will actually be about a inch taller, maybe even 1 1/2 taller. But they are heavy. PS. I believe they moved the manufacturing of these boots to China. The last pair only last about 6 months when a sole fell off.

These boots are heavy but comfortable and protect my feet from almost anything

They are heavy and it took me a bit to get used to the weight but they support and protect my feet. I am diabetic and am very aware that my feet need protection because I don't want to loose them. For the weight you get boots that are the most comfortable I have ever worn and almost indestructible. They are built for the most dangerous and demanding jobs. My property is loaded with every kind of sharp and rusty metal, broken glass, cactus, scorpions, fire ants: lots of hazards. When I put these on I have no fear of foot damage or fatigue. The leather is amazing, ankle support is excellent, the foot bed is very comfortable, and the toe box could not be better. They have so many certifications, are waterproof and insulated. The soles are thick and aggressive but don't get plugged up. I love these boots.

Revisited Review after 6 momths

Product quality is amazing as far as I can tell, width was perfect and the steel toe has plenty of coverage and width. Materials are tough and the rubber guard over the steel toe is amazing, literally the reason I bought the boots. Only problem I had with them was the metatarsal guard was way to tight, it's fine when you slip the boot for the first few weeks it puts a lot of pressure on the top of your foot. But after getting them wet a few times and breaking them in well the metatarsal gaurd adjusts and the issue goes away. Amazing pair of boots and at this point my favorite pair to date. Not waterproof but the closest thing other than rubber rain boots. No scuffs, tears in the material and they're holding up really well for how much I abuse my boots. Tore through my last pair in less than 3 months so a major improvement.

I'm trying to reserve judgement

I bought these on a whim because I have had them in my wishlist forever and my old Timberlands just had their soles split and the toes are worn thing. Not bad for 3 years of abuse.Got them next day and put them on and knew right away that there was a problem. They were much more snug than I had anticipated.I wore them with white socks while lying in bed to just see how they felt because the left meta was putting a lot of pressure on my left foot (the larger of my 2). I then put on boot socks and adjusted the boot and it seemed much better.I decided to wear them out for an errand to the store and back and had to take them off. The pressure on the top of my foot was bad enough that it felt like I was getting shin splints. Once I got them off it was much better.Thoughts:1. The boot is built like Frankenstein's2. The steel toe is 4x stitched and looks tough as nails.3. There are 4 hook/eye on both sides rather than just hooks like my current boots.4. The tongue is thick and completely connects to the outside of the boot to ensure waterproof-nessWhen I put them back in the box I realized that it was labeled 11.5 US 45.5 EU and I've been measured for both and I've always been 11.5 US 46 EU so I don't know what has changed but apparently I order the wrong size. I'm going to send them back and get a larger size and see if that works. Otherwise I love the boots and really wanted the internal meta because it's a nicer look. That and I'm clumsy and drop stuff on my feet all the time so the extra protection is great.Update 2/10/13: I ended up having to return the 2nd set as the 13s(EU 46)were too big. The only advice I can give is that what ever size you normally wear, I would suggest ordering at least .5 size bigger. So here's a chart of what I learnedTimberland: Size 11.5US = 45.5EUAmazon: Size 13US = 46EUTradehome(measured) 11.5US = 46EUMy measurements above was from our local Tradehome shoe store. Obviously there's no consistency so you'll just have to take a chance. Also, the internal meta does reduce your squatting capability due to it restricting your forward ankle bend. But it's possible since I didn't find the right size it was all in that issue.Either way, if you can find a pair to fit you I'm sure you love 'em; They look great and are very well built.
