The VIKTOS Men's Johnny Combat OPS Tactical Boots stand out due to their combat-focused design that meets the rigorous demands of military and tactical operations. The minimalist approach means you're equipped with just what you need—no excess weight or bulky constructions that impede movement.
These boots feature a robust build with a 6" nylon/synthetic upper that is not only lightweight but also water-resistant, making them suitable for wet conditions without compromising protection. The rubber heel and toe overlays enhance durability, ensuring they withstand harsh environments.
One notable attribute is the enhanced grip provided by the cleated sole, specifically crafted for operational use in the field. This ensures that you maintain stability and control on varied terrain, boosting your confidence whether navigating rocky paths or slippery surfaces.
Comfort has not been overlooked; the boots have a thoughtful 10mm heel-to-toe drop that facilitates a natural foot position while walking. Additionally, the high-rebound EVA foam in both the midsole and insole supplies significant cushioning, allowing for comfortable wear over extended periods—the perfect companion for long missions or hikes.
Moreover, the design includes a high-volume forefoot, accommodating foot splay during heavy tactical loads, which is essential for maintaining foot health when carrying gear. Overall, these boots harmonize support, durability, and comfort effectively.
While they have many strengths, it's worth mentioning that some users may find the need for a short break-in period to achieve the best comfort level. Additionally, the size options may not cater to every foot shape, which is something to keep in mind before making a decision.

Update: Found the boots to be rather comfortable after what must have been a break in period. First full day was the discomfort that lead to initial review. Now I wear them regularly for a full day and are comfortable. Get a lot of good comments on the looks of the boot. Will stick with this boot and would buy again if these wear out.Previous post: Bought the boots in size 10, Ranger Green. Boots look good. The fit is true to size. The problem is with the comfort. Boot rubs against ankle bone and standing for prolonged periods(even only 2-3hrs) can be uncomfortable. I may try a more comfortable insert and I have placed bandaids on my ankle bones to defeat the rubbing against ankle bone. Still kind of have to wear after money spent, unfortunately there isn’t a whole lot of options for ranger green in the market. Will probably look for another boot from another company as a coyote color would work.
This is my second pair of "Johnny combats" and I can't express well enough how happy I am with these boots, I wear them continuously upwards of 60 hours a week, they see all different surfaces and many miles a day. I've seen about 14-16 months of use before they become too unkempt for uniform wear. Most notably splitting along the sides where the toes bend. The tread seams to hold well over time and feels secure even in wet environments. While not waterproof they seem to hold moisture at bay in most conditions, including the occasional quick submersion. They are comfortable and lightweight, easy to take on and off quickly even without a side zip.My only real complaint is these boots can get very warm, so my next set will probably be the warm weather version. For the price you are not going to find a more serviceable uniform boot.
Only had them a week. Fit well, look good, waterproof.
It was super difficult to put them on for the first week. Now it’s more comfortable and I can put them on easily. They are true to size. Light weight and look good but they are not water resistant and you can’t run long distances on them.
One of the best tactical boots I ever had. Outstanding quality and comfort. 100% recommended.
Very comfortable for the feet. Dry, perfect fit. So I wish it had more going for it. My main issue was the top section. I have noticed some reviewers complaining about how hard it was to get on and off. Maybe this was some idea of a fix, because what I actually got was a boot that's very easy to put on and take off. As you can see, the top section is wider than the product page photo. In the product image, the top section looks fitted and secure. So, even after lacing the boot tightly, the top is loose (and the way the top rises towards the back doesn't help at all) and chafes the leg with each step, which is not comfortable. My second issue, which I could have lived with, was that the soles felt too rounded with each step, and I felt as if I'd tip over like one of those inflatable punching bags, giving a sensation I could only describe as 'stubby'. But I realize that could be mainly due to the roomy top section. Maybe this was an irregular pair I got, but I had to pay for return shipping, so I'm leaving this description for the next guy.
Great boot option, had them in use now for about a month and half. They don’t stink yet so they def breathe well. I also don’t lace all the way up for chasing people purposes, but great fit and feel light.
They're Viktos, what else is there to say? They are slowly but surely becoming my favorite brand. These boots are about 6 months old now and holding up great. Only thing I wish was done differently is I like some paracord laces!!
