These are great boots, once you get the sizing right. I originally ordered a 13 3E, because that is what I wear in other brands of western style boots; however, the Tony Lama's run very narrow, and were painful to wear even in extra wide. When I tried to process the return/exchange, I discovered the price of the boots had doubled; Amazon customer service adjusted the price for a new order in size 13 4E, and helped me process the return right away. The leather on these boots is some of the softest I have ever seen/felt, and still thick enough that they will last without wearing through or tearing. As with most western style boots, the soles are very slick when new, and you'll have to wear them on rough concrete surfaces for a few days, or use some rough grit sand paper to give them a little scuff for traction. I put some inexpensive insoles (they have to be the flexible kind, no hard plastic under the arch) in these, and they are comfortable enough to wear all day now.Tony Lama's Stallion boots in black look and feel great, and are perfect for casual or formal wear. The finish on the leather is perfect, not too shiny, not too dull. Overall a great pair of boots for the price.
I made the mistake of trying a different brand of boots after wearing Tony Lamas for 20+ years....not sure what I was thinking but the lady at the boot store assured me that I'd never wear the other brand out....lesson learned, the other brand went in the garbage last night.I couldn't find plain black Tony Lama's at my local retailer(they don't carry black Tonys!?!?) so I tried on a tan pair to get the size right and started looking on line.I found these and snapped them up since Amazon had a 20% off sale going on a couple weeks ago. They showed up on my doorstep in just a couple days and looked great and fit perfectly. I work in an office so I wear them all day everyday so I needed plain black and they needed to be very comfortable which they are, I couldn't be happier.Great job Tony Lama!
Well made - great value!! Glad to see Amazon offering such great products at a great price. They fit just as expected - true to size posted. Leather is soft and quality of boot is just what I was looking for. Was cautious about ordering boots without trying them on first. My wife just bought a similar pair of Tony Lama's at a local boot store and the posted price on her boot on Amazon was $50 less than what she paid retail locally - ugh! Wish we had seen them here first. Now she wants a brown pair - go figure.
Comfortable dress boot. Leather finish is flat and not as shiny as expected but looks good.
Not knocking the quality of these boots, the leather was nice and soft and they seemed to be well constructed. I'd say a touch better construction than most of the boots I won that were made in Mexico. The shaft just wouldn't break right for me and kind of dug into my ankles. Just too annoying so I returned them. The quality of the build and leather seem to be top notch though, and the fit (other than the shaft) was spot on.
I have been wearing western style dress boots for all of my 55 years. I've owned many brands - this is my first pair of Tony Lama's. I chose a mid-range price boot to get an idea about the fit and craftsmanship (they are a part of Justin) - and I am very pleased. Beautiful leather work, soft, supple, and a cushioned foot bed. I ordered my usual boot size and the fit is true and comfortable. After a few "outings" I will likely get another pair in brown.
Heel is very sloppy and loose. Not the same boot I’ve always worn. Ordered the same size I always wear and it feels like a whole size larger. Very sloppy fit. Tried to get exchange and they charge me for return shipping. Why would I risk getting another boot that doesn’t fit well. I don’t recommend this seller
We have been searching for this boot in black for quite some time. It is a perfect fit, exactly what my husband prefers and the deal of the century.
