Welcome to an exploration of the Justin Boots Men's Classic Black London Calf Cowboy Boots, a fine representation of Western craftsmanship that dates back to 1879. Each pair is designed to honor the spirit of independence and hard work, making them not just footwear but a symbol of authenticity.
The journey of Justin Boots started with H.J. Justin in Spanish Fort, Texas. Initially a boot repairman, he quickly transitioned into boot-making, recognizing the demand among local cowboys. As the company grew, it moved to Nocona, Texas, capitalizing on a burgeoning market facilitated by the arrival of the railroad. Today, Justin Boots continues to produce high-quality cowboy boots, ensuring that each pair is infused with over 130 years of tradition.

Second pair of these JR's I have had in 15 years, only because the first pair was stolen after being resoled three times. Comfortable like bare feet.
I am a long time wearer of Justin Boots. While I do own other brands of Western style boots, Justin is my "go-to" brand. The boots I ordered this time are a somewhat special style. They are the always good fitting Roper boot, but with one important difference: a high riding heel. Ropers usually come with a normal height heel. But a slight back problem I have is eliminated with riding heels. The boot was inspired by various Texas police departments who wanted a western style dress boot, but more in line with dress uniform requirements of a rounded toe. You will not find these particular boots listed on-line or in most catalogs. I learned about them while in a boot store in Dallas. The upper leather takes a clean and perfect military shine; excellent in all cases. The Vibram sole is non slip...really good. The size was completely as marked: 11EE. They are a high boot at 12" and I do like that. Completely devoid of stitch design, the boot named the Trooper, is professional looking for what ever you are wearing.
Wrong size, had to return. But also, leather soles are slippery of course. I couldn’t even walk on carpet! Oh, but the whole room smelled like quality leather!
The boots are a bit more "distressed" than what I gathered from the description, but I slathered them with Bick 4 & buffed them out with a horsehair brush & they look great. A major western wear retailer listed these boots at $294, but I got them on Cyber Monday sale from Amazon for $131, so the price was too good to pass up. Being Justin's, they fit like a glove & are very comfortable. New boot break-in is usually a less than delightful experience, but the leather on these is very supple, so even wearing them all day at work has not been a problem; I'm sure the Bick 4 treatment helped, but the leather on these boots is very comfortable & pliable.
I have worn boots, including Justin Boots, for decades. Bought these for our adult son for Christmas. These are very nice, basic Western boots. They are casual enough to wear with jeans, but dressy enough to wear with a coat and tie. Our son loves them. Amazon's listing says that they're made in the U.S., but they are not--they're crafted in Mexico, per a tag in the boot. Not an issue, since a lot of good boots, including these, are crafted south of the border. Though I have said that these "fit as expected," that is a qualified statement. The wide boots (EE) fit exactly like a medium boot (D) should fit. They "fit as expected" because I first bought the D width, which our son had to struggle mightily to get over his heel, only to find that they were extremely narrow. Our son has NEVER worn a wide shoe in his life. Since he liked them so much I returned the D width and reordered the same boot in the EE width, and they fit great.
I think overall that these are great boots. I haven't worn western boots for about 30 years and the last pair of Justin's I owned took 6 months to break in. I don't expect these to take nearly that long. I have worn them now for 4 days and they are getting better each time I wear them. They are a little snug though. For the first 5 or 6 hours they are fine, it's the last 2 or 3 hours that my feet are sore. But like I said they are getting better each day I wear them. I will update later.Update, They are broke in now and I have to say that these are comfortable boots. I can wear them all day and my feet don't hurt at the end of the day. Here is a tip to help break them in, wear two pairs of socks at first. The boots will feel a little snug but when you go back to just one pair of socks, the boots will feel great.
These are really nice Justin black boots. Only problem is,- they are slick leather soles, & not the rubber, ribbed soles that are listed. If you like slick leather soles, you will be happy with this purchase. If you are wanting the product listed which is Justin black rubber, ribbed sole boots, I do not recommend purchasing these boots, because you will be returning them like I have too.
I've had boots from Justin before so I knew what size to order. Here's a tip-I wear a 10 1/2 D if the boots/shoes are good quality and American made. If shoes are coming out of any other country (especially an Asian country) I wear 11 to 11 1/2. Yeah, Noconas, Justrins and Redwings cost more, but haphazard sizing is one of the problems you don't get. I can't speak for the imported boots from any of them but the American made ones have all followed that pattern for me. These boots? Absolutely perfect fit, comfortable, good leather and they just ooze quality. 10/10. If you wear boots and know your size, I highly recommend them.
