These are perfect for water aerobics, running in the pool no slipping, no sliding. Fit is perfect and comfortable. They also don’t stretch out under water. Just super. Worth every penny.
The Ryka aqua shoes are very comfortable and work perfect in a pool for aqua classes (keep feet from getting scraped up) & great for paddle boarding. I love that I can carry my board & just hop on. They are very light & the water just goes through them.
Upon arrival packaging was excellent. I normally wear size 7 1/2 but got an 8 as I would be wearing them barefoot for obvious reasons. These shoes are just as advertised. Very roomy in the toe and top of foot while comfortably cradling my heel. No slippage in heel area. As much as they look, feel and act like a tennis shoe, hey are so lightweight it doesn't even feel like you're wearing shoes. They drain immediately and provide excellent gripping power in the water, mud and on rocks. The toe cap provides excellent protection. The lace slide keeps laces firmly in place (laces are a little long when cinched, but i tied a bow and it looked like any other trainer). I would highly recommend to any woman. I will never own any other kind of water shoe.
I got these shoes for my water aerobics classes and I love them. After reading the split reviews on the fit, I decided to order my regular shoe size (a size 9) and although they seemed a TINY bit loose, they fit perfectly once I tightened the laces. Had I gotten a 1/2 smaller I know they would have been too small. So, I'm voting for "true to size". The traction is great, no slipping at all. It's just like I'm on land in a well cushioned sneaker. I have a foot condition that affects one of the bones in my toe and these are so well made that my foot doesn't hurt at all jumping around in the water. I feel I've been able to more fully participate in all the jumps, kicks and jogging in the water since buying these. The flimsy pairs you get that just slip on don't even compare. They're nice and roomy in the toe box, which I like, and fit great around the ankle. As for the laces, these have the lock laces where you can tighten and unloosen them with a fastener. There is quite a bit of lace left over after I tighten them and if I don't double knot what's left behind, they do come untied in the water. Even still, it doesn't affect the fit of the shoe, it's just annoying having the laces float around in the water. Double knotting keeps them tied for me.The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because these hold on to a lot of water. If I don't take them off right when I get out of the pool and wring them out, I'm left with an excess of water tracking all over the place. I forgot to wring them out once and left them in my laundry room only to find the entire floor covered in water later on. Also, even with the insole removed, they take a good 24 hours to dry, unless I put them outside on a sunny day.All things considered, these are awesome sneakers for my needs and I highly recommend them for anyone doing water aerobics!
Comfortable, fits great with a pair of socks. Traction great on concrete pool type bottoms, not so good on tile pools.
This shoe is great for water aerobics, exercise, walking etc. as it provides great support and is very comfortable. I have tried other less expensive shoes and have been very disappointed due to their fit and comfort. I'm in the pool at least 3 days a week and these shoes last a long time, much longer than my swim suits. Highly recommend. Our instructors also wear and recommend them.
I have owned 3 pairs of swim shoes for my aquatic exercise class.1. a cheap pair purchased from Amazon, comfortable, but the rubber-like sole separated from the upper shoe in about 2 months2. A pair from LLBean. Withstood chlorinated water well, but were uncomfortable, very hard and I couldn’t get the tongue to lie straight. They laced up directly over the seam on the side of the tongue.3. Ryka - I will never be with a pair of Ryka swim shoes. So comfortable yet supportive. Have been told by a couple of people in class that they will last a long time.I wear 8AA in New Balance (880s), but size 8 in Ryka was way to long, had to size down to a Ryka 7M. Because of the lace closure, I can get them tight enough to stay on my narrow feet without discomfort. Still have toe wiggle room.
The shoe is made much better than any other water shoes they are made well. I had to order a size bigger and had to stretch them after stretching them they feel great. They are to long in the length but since I only wear them for water aerobics they are fine. Unsure if I will purchase again unless they come in wide width or half sizes.
