The Astral Rassler 2.0 Outdoor Minimalist Shoes stand out primarily due to their innovative grip technology. The Granite Grip 2.0 allows for unmatched traction on wet and rocky surfaces, which is crucial when you're maneuvering through rivers or across slippery rocks. The shoe’s lightweight design, weighing only 222 grams per shoe, makes it feel almost like you're barefoot, enhancing your agility and balance during activities.
Comfort is paramount in outdoor adventures, and the Rassler 2.0 does not disappoint. The mid-cut upper adds extra support around the ankles while maintaining flexibility for easy movement. Additionally, the wider toe box allows your toes to spread out, which is essential for stability on uneven ground.
Another noteworthy feature is the built-in Polygiene treated sockliner that prevents odors, a common issue when shoes often get wet. The hydrophobic materials dry quickly and ventilate hot air effectively, ensuring your feet remain comfortable throughout the day.
However, if you're planning to venture into colder climates, it's important to note the open design might not provide enough warmth. Also, while the traction is impressive, those seeking extreme off-road capabilities may find the tread lacks aggressiveness compared to some specialized models.

I bought these for canyoneering. The slot canyons in southern Utah was rough on them, and I wore through some of the stitching on the sides, but the sandstone walls wore holes in my brothers shoes on the same trip. They are really lightweight, nimble shoes, and the soles have great grip. The tread is subtle, but quite sticky and does well on sandstone and in slick conditions. I now use them rafting and kayaking. They are great in and out of the boat, and maintain good traction on slick river rocks.
When it’s a little warmer out and you don’t feel like wearing waders. This is a great shoe to wear in the water.
I love these shoes for hiking! They fit me super well and look really cool.
Nice, well made water shoe with a grippy sole. But it’s short for its width. That may work for you, but if you don’t have stubby little toes I’d guess not. That’s always the problem, isn’t it? Small companies make products that fit their CEO and no one else :/Since it’s a water shoe, there’s not a lot of cushioning. You’re going to be happiest if you wear a neoprene or thick wool sock (or both), and probably an insole if you intend to hike very far. That means adventure boaters and canyoneers will need to invest more energy in fitting than strict whitewater kayakers.
I keep wondering why I paid this much money for a sneaker that keeps slipping on rocks, moss, gravel, just as any other. In order to prevent slippage I put socks over it, but since this will become a regular practice to prevent falling and breaking my bones, I can put socks on any other shoe, hopefully one that does not kill my feet with discomfort, on top of NOT providing protection against slippage.I have had 3 Astral shoes so far, all for the same reason: hiking around water, but this is the last one. It does not deliver.
I adore these Astral shoes!!!! These are my THIRD pair of Astrals!!!! They fit my feet perfectly. They are cute as can be and SO grippy for pickleball! 🤗
Im not certain that these shoes were made for human feet. They fit strangely in the heel, midsole and the toe. The materials felt very cheap.
I bought these 3 sizes too big to fit over my stockingfoot waders and they have worked perfectly. They have held up nicely for over 50 days of fishing this Winter and Spring. River rocks are always slippery but these grippy souls will definitely save you some pain and anguish (any maybe some embarrassment too). I'll be buying another pair soon in my regular size to use for kayaking. My only complaint is that the laces are about to break, but it's partly to blame on the harsh metal clips that keep my Frog Togg waders from sliding up my legs.
