I put these shoes on and new immediately they were the right ones for me. I've worn New Balance for years but lately the quality and fit have changed greatly so I begun searching for better fit and performance. I walk around 8 miles per day outside so both are very important to me. Along with the distance traveled per day I have supination issues which make most shoes impossible to wear after a short period of time as the soles breakdown to my unnatural step. I've been wearing the Saucony Echelons now for more than a month and couldn't be happier with them. They fit my natural step in a way which allows me to feel my entire foot on the ground with each step and have not shown signs of breakdown in the sole, the wear pattern is pretty even across the sole. With that I have no pain or discomfort from my feet to my lower back which I had with the New Balance. They also provide a very nice cushion. Overall I am quite pleased with these shoes and recommend them to anyone with similar issues.
I'm a larger man. These shoes offer all the support I could ask for with my extra weight, while still being comfortable. Had them for approximately 6 months now and no sign of wear as of yet.
I really wanted to like these shoes. I will state at the outset that I'm a hard size to fit---8 extra wide (male). They at first felt quite good. But once I did some serious walking I noticed that the toe box wasn't quite wide enough, was too low, and that size 8 (like my other shoes) was too small. I liked them so much in other respects that I tried tweaking them with different inserts. By the time I saw that it was futile, they were already too worn to return. I then got an 8 1/2 extra wide. These are a bit too big, but seem OK with a heavy sock. Yet, the toe box still seems a little shallow. A well designed shoe, but those with wide feet, and long or upward toes or bunions, may want to consider a half size bigger.
Super comfortable and sturdy. I love the height it adds on me. My favorite shoes now.
Good and sturdy. Wear with insole for extra support especially if you are aging and your feet are flattening like mine are. Take care of your feet, people.
the shoes are comfortable on long walks. I have problem where the back of the heal is wearing through the material used in that area
The size is perfect, toe box is wide enough without having to be an extra wide shoe, and I will always order this shoe when I need it.
I wish it had more of a rounded toe than a pointy one, had to size up even with a wide. It is really comfortable though and soft materials inside and around the foot. Sometimes the tongue feels a little uncomfortable and needs to be readjusted and tightened to stay in place but it' probably me being picky. They are better looking than some black sneakers of this style, but still slightly on the "old age" side of things and could use a little more of a modern look. However, still more attractive than most black walking shoes by other brands.
