I was looking for a good pair of walking shoes since I am a tour leader by profession. After reading several reviews on-line, I decided to make a go of it and try these out and I know from experience Rockport is a good brand. My "experiment" involved a month of intense traveling and walking. I figured if anything would determine how good these shoe were, this was it!The first two weeks I broke the shoes in. It was a process and my feet did hurt. But by the time I was halfway through my sojourn, the shoes fit well and provided ample support. My feet did not hurt even after walking around all day and the shoes felt like they had molded specifically to my feet. I think these are a winner! If you have a job that requires you to be on your feet or if you are doing intense traveling, I highly recommend these shoes!Update: I have been wearing these shoes for awhile now and they seem to get better and better! While it takes a bit to break them in, it is well worth it. Wonderful investment!
All people are not physiologically the same. Why is it that shoes are made as if feet are all the same?Rockport makes shoes built for people with narrow, average and wide feet. I have been wearing Rockports for well over 10 years. I wear them because they are excellent value. The pair that I am wearing right now have about 8 years on them. Make sure you get Rockport and not the look-alike ones found at discount malls. If you wear orthopedics as I do then remove the inner sole and add your orthopedic inserts. This shoe is very comfortable and has not broken down in the years that I have had them. I love to have them on holidays when I am trekking and sight-seeing.I have heard that Rockport is discontinuing the tour class walking shoe. Rockport if you are listening please don't do that.
The shoe was too narrow and there was no way of assessing this before I bought it. The sizing is not clear at all on the website. I needed to return it and the cost of the postage was more than what I spent on the item. I do not recommend buying shoes off the internet at all.
Have always been wary of buying shoes online, due to the fit, but I've had multiple pairs of Rockports over the years and decided to give it a try. (OK, it helps that my size was available on sale.) Am very pleased with my purchase. The shoes are comfortable, while offering good support for long walks. I also appreciate the sturdy soles that don't transmit the cold like my sneaker-type walking shoes do.
This is the 2nd time I have purchased this same pair of shoes. I need a very sturdy but still comfortable shoe for work. This is it! They are rugged.. comfortable.. and still stylish. I had gotten 5 winters out of my last pair. There was still life left in them.. but after all our snowy winters here in the Midwest.. they had finally seen their better days. After looking at many stores trying to find something comparable with the same great quality.. which I just couldn't find.. I bought another pair of these.. and I'm very happy with my purchase. These shoes are not cheap.. But they last and are well worth the money.
I love the look and quality of this product. However, the left shoe is like a torture chamber on the bottom of my left foot. This is odd because my left foot is actually smaller than my right foot, so you'd think it would be the right foot that would hurt. I will work to try to break them in. If not, they will be a donation to Goodwill.
MY SECOND PAIR .. LOVE THEM SO MUCH I TOLD MY HUSBAND I WANT TO "BRONZE" THEM FOR THE TRAVEL MEMORIES THEY INVOKE! BUT READ MY BUT BELOW IN ORDERING!I cannot tell you the streets.. valleys .. mountains .. countries .. continents these shoes have comfortably taken me to .. OH THE MEMORIES! I would not even THINK of buying a different travel shoe .. these are the ONLY ones for both my husband and me.BUT and a great BIG BUT in ordering! We originally purchased locally at a wonderful excellent shoe store that I intended to return to. BUT with time limitation .. and the fact my shoe still had the model name on it .. just for the heck of it I googled it .. and sure enough Amazon had it! NOW MY BUT!! My shoe clearly said: "7W" on the tab. As I went to order .. Amazon has a MAZE of detail but NO CLEAR 7W. So I ordered "7E" hoping that would be "7W". NOPE .. when delivered it turned out to be "7XW". Now I have to go to the trouble of boxing up/printing out a label to return/driving to UPS to return .. WHAT A PAIN! Now I know to order "7D" to get "7W".Personally I think Amazon should have the ordering be the SAME as what the shoe says!! My old shoe clearly says 7W .. NOT 7D!! Get with it Amazon! But I love the shoe .. buy it! My previous pair of Rockport Walking Shoes are still in use after about 10 years of continual wear, even if they are a bit scuffed. I just wanted a different look for my everyday footwear. Lots of on-line searches later, I ended up selecting the same shoe with a different leather finish and color. They are substantial, comfortable, fit well over my favorite Acorn Fleece Socks, and look sharp with my usual cords and sweaters.. The inner sole is not glued in so it allows me to insert heel lifts which correct my supinating ankles. Couldn't ask for a better everyday shoe.
