Shoes are fine. Very comfortable. The quality has gone down. Have an exact older pair. Rubber soles and leather. New shoes manmade materials if you get them on sale good value. Not worth full price.
I was initially worried about purchasing these shoes through the internet without first being able to try them on, but I had found a guide online to size my feet myself and went ahead and placed an order. I am reluctant to seek help from shoe department employees at stores anymore after my last experience, in which the girl working in shoes told me that she did not know how to size my shoes and left me to play with the shoe-sizing device on my own.The shoes arrived in great condition and after trying them on found that they fit perfectly. I had in the past been told that I had wide feet, though many shoe stores I visit in person do not carry appropriately wide shoes, and I wind up buying a size larger, though the last several shoes I have purchased this way have been too tight just behind the toes, causing the shoes to become uncomfortable after long periods of time. In contrast, these Rockport shoes have given me no issues with being tight anywhere around my foot. The only issue I have had has been the heels of the shoes rubbing into my heels, something that on other shoes has rubbed my flesh raw. Fortunately, after having put up with this slight discomfort for a couple weeks and my feet developing the appropriate callouses, I no longer have this issue and can wear these shoes all day and walk as far as I like without feeling any discomfort or pain.Aesthetically, these shoes are visually pleasing for me, especially considering the logo is a small, dark label located on the heel of the shoe where it is not an eyesore to the overall design. I really like the feel of the material of the shoe in addition to the color. I can be kind of picky when it comes to shopping for shoes, but these have turned out to be exactly what I needed in exactly the size I was looking for.If I had one complaint, it is that the cat has taken it upon himself to play with these shoes, and while I do not mind him rubbing his face against them I really do not like when he grabs and starts to kick them, as this has started to scratch the leather.
I have purchased these same shoes twice over the the past several years, and I enjoy their comfort, consistency of sizing, and durability. As I wear a narrow, finding shoes to fit me well is sometimes challenging. This is one reason I like Rockports - they offer many of their shoes in narrow widths. I prefer the fit and appearance of Dunhams over these Rockports, but they don't exactly compete in the same market segment. I wear both pairs of shoes in a business casual work environment. I additionally wear these Rockports for occasional weekend functions. The Rockports are definitely more casual but make an excellent pair of shoes to rotate with my Dunhams for work. Even new out of the box they are very comfortable. I bought the brown tumbled shoes, and when they get dull or scuffed they can easily be polished to restore their appearance. You can't do that with Nubuck. Their styling may appeal to the older generation (I'm getting there!), but anyone can appreciate their comfort. They are the next best thing to sneakers. Be aware that the brown tumbled shoes have a pebbled exterior texture appearance, inherent in the grain of the leather uppers. Can't go wrong with these shoes.***Update after four days of use***I've noticed that the shoes offer virtually no support for over-pronated ankles. They are not orthotic shoes, and they even tend to exaggerate the pronation, which could possibly lead to strain of the posterior tibialis tendon. My job is primarily sedentary, so I may not experience problems, but be aware of this if you have over-pronated ankles and are considering purchasing these shoes. I may have to use orthotic inserts to correct the deviation. Some shoes are better than others, and unfortunately, these shoes have very little support in this area. I am dropping my rating by one star because of this lack of support, but if you have good straight ankles then this shouldn't affect you at all.
Comfortable like a sneaker but looks nice enough for dress/business casual. Supportive upper. Good traction outsole. Padding around tongue and above ankle is good. Durability of outsole is Good. Durability of upper is even better. Laces stay tied, unlike some other dressy shoes. This shoe has been somewhat unchanged for decades. Great product.
Good Product
