The Amazon recommendation was to size up a half size, which i did but they were too big. When i went to order my regular size i saw there was a reduced price, wider half a size smaller pair someone must have returned and i gambled on those. They fit perfect! These aren't high fashion shoes but they aren't ugly and they are comfortable walk in. I added an extra arch support because i have flat flat very flat feet but I'd do that for any shoe. I'd defintely buy these again.
I bought my first pair of Propet's back in 2010 (see pictures the beige ones are the 2010 the merlot 2019 version) I posted a front view/back view and a view of the bottoms. I have owned maybe 10 pairs total. Since they are unisex I have purchased men's 8 WW as well as woman's 10WW. Let me say I started with Propet because I have/had bunions and hammer toes on both feet. I had surgery on my right in 2010 and started wearing these after the surgery recovery. As time went on I have some balance issues and I found them a excellent shoe for stability, and stuck with the style and the brand. I have always found they don't need "breaking in" you can wear them all day right out of the box. That being said, there are several changes that I am not sure about. Now there is a different bottom(picture shows different formation), it seems thinner and less substantial than the old one. The arch support pad is different also. I can attest that they last and are comfortable when you have bad balance. I will post an updated review in a couple of months after I have had time to wear them.
I think these would have been really comfortable if I had been able to get them on. The top elastic piece is very small and there isn't much give, and it is pretty high up on the foot, so if you have really wide feet like me you might find them unwearable. However my sense was that if I *had* been able to get them on, they would have been ridiculously comfortable, like my other Propet shoes. They appeared well made and were very light weight, but solid enough for winter wear. I loved the look of them, a very sleek style that would have been great with either jeans or slacks. Ultimately I had to return them. Kudos to Amazon though, the return process was awesome. I'll be looking for a different, stretchier Propet style.
Comfortable shoes. Fast delivery!
I've worn Propet shoes for years. They fit well, look good, offer great support, and are durable. I highly recommend them to anyone who experiences foot discomfort while walking.
The shoe we used to love is no longer made. This is version "II" and different. The worst new feature is there is no piece of metal support in the heel of the shoe, so when you try to slide your foot in the shoe, the heel collapses, unless you have a shoehorn to help. The sizing is different. Maybe it is because the metal piece is missing in the heel piece, but my regular size 8 foot would not go into the size 8 shoe. I considered trying an 8 1/2 but I am really put off by the lack of heel support. The shoe seems well made. The sole is different but I think that might be a good feature. (I couldn't tell since I couldn't get my foot into the shoe.)I've worn this shoe for a decade with my bad knees, buying six pairs, and the "shock absorber" sole was a godsend. It used to be easy to slip on and off. That is no longer the case. If you've never had the previous model, you may fall in love with this shoe.
I've been very satisfied with propets in the past. I've never ordered foot wear or clothing because of the risk of not fitting properly. In this case of the shoe purchase i couldn't find them anywhere else. So i decided to take a risk on purchasing on line thru amazon. I was excited but soon disappointed upon trying the shoe on. This shoe must have been modified because even though it was my shoe size..... It was not a firm fitting shoe near the heel. Matter of fact it lacked the support that the original propets had. I don't know what changes were made but it definitely was not the same made quality shoe wear I've purchased in the past. I immediately drove to the ups to return them. The shoe is made in china...... Is that the problem ? Or has the shoe been modified ? Will not purchase again unless the original propet shoe returns.
Got these shoes to replace an older pair for walking around Paris on vacation. I have neuropathy but barely noticeable in these shoes.
