Yonex tennis shoes are the most comfortable and beautiful on the market. They arrived before the date.
The Eclipsion 2 and 3 were among my favorite performance tennis shoes, and the Eclipsion 4 continues the Yonex tradition of excellence. They did make some significant changes with this version, most notably the footbed has a more elevated heel than the flatter and more level 2 and 3. It's not a bad thing, but it is noticeable.Normally you would expect an elevated heel in a running shoe designed for straight-ahead movement, but not in a tennis shoe designed for movement in all directions. And yet somehow Yonex manages to give the shoe a more elevated, slightly angled ride without any sacrifice of comfort or stability. If anything, the Eclipsion 4 could be the most secure and stable tennis shoe I've ever tried. It's also instantly comfortable and cushioned in all respects, and it stays that way through hours of play. One thing to note, however, is that this is definitely a performance shoe -- meaning that you wouldn't want to wear it for just walking around, or feeding balls from a basket. It's designed for high intensity match play, and it delivers the goods. The outsole also seems to be a bit more durable than the Eclipsion 2 and 3 -- durability being their weakest aspect.I'm on my third pair of Eclipsion 4s, with a fourth ready and waiting. I stockpiled because they are that good.
Quality good comfort
I’ve had these shoes for about 3 months and they’re great. They’re heavy enough that they have good stability and durability and light enough that they don’t hold me back from moving fast. The black and purple ones look pretty good too. The only small problem with the shoe is that the insole provided is quite thick, so you might think the shoe is too small when you first try them on. I’d recommend getting your normal size and having an extra insole ready for use in case you’re given the same thick one I was.
Great tennis shoes, light, sufficient cushioning, size as expected. Best shoes I’ve tried in a while!
This is a premium tennis shoe however, I prefer the PC Eclipsion 3's to the new 4's. Primarily the aesthetic and the tongue cushioning. You can't go wrong with either. A couple pros, including Casper Ruud, are still playing with the 3's but with custom violet accent as seen in the new 4 -but not available to the GP. Also, good move to fit any brand shoe you decide on with orthotic inserts- makes a world of difference.Happy tennis! Stay well.
Over the years I have bought high end tennis shoes designed for tennis players, from several manufactures. I replace my tennis shoes every 6-12 months and not just for one pair. I have never tried Yonex and this Eclipsion 4, carried the right description on Yonex website. I bought this shoe from Amazon as I can easily return via our local Kohls store. I have always leaned towards actual tennis shoes as usually have a selection of colors from various tennis sites and good comfort level. I wear a size 13, weigh 205lbs, and age 79. These Eclipsian 4's, are a perfect fit for My foot. The tongue is well padded with nice bottom cushioning. The shoe is perfect for my size 13 with 1/2 inch front toe space room and no squishing of toes. I wear one pair of Asics Training Socks. I recommend this shoe having all the comfort levels and weighs less than my current 3 pairs Hvy K Swiss.
Pretty good shoe, but not very comfortable. Not much cushioning, and you can feel a "lump" on the lateral sides at mid foot. Would not buy again.
