This New Balance shoe is a great choice for a shoe. My son easily does 10,000 steps each day between work, workout and life. This shoe offers support and is durable. As a diabetic he has to take extra care of his feet. This shoe allows for his prescribed orthotics in comfort. He is a 13 4E - this is his shoe of choice for good foot health, comfort and stability.
They come in a wide fit. This is the third pair!
I tried to wear the shoes without my Orthotics, and there wasn't the support that I needed for walking comfort. With the orthotics, the shoes are mostly comfortable. The shoes are a bit tight over the arch, so that, if you keep moving, the shoes perform well.
They are comfortable and lightweight for pickleball play
One of the best work shoes I've ever owned.
This is my third or fourth pair of New Balance 806 V1 shoes. I use them exclusively to play pickleball on outdoor courts. I play four to five times per week in the spring, summer, and fall, and usually two or three times per week during the winter when the temperatures are not too cold (Missouri).I use New Balance because they are durable but more importantly, because they fit my wide feet. New Balance is one of the few manufacturers that when they say the shoe is wide, it really is. I remove the foot pads that comes in the shoes and replace them with custom orthotics and the shoes still fit well. There may be lighter shoes made of synthetic materials, but the weight of the leather 806 shoes does not bother me. I also have a pair of New Balance court shoes that are made of synthetic materials and are lighter that I use on indoor courts, but in reality, I don't notice the difference when I'm playing. This may seem like a small thing but I really like the laces that come on the New Balance 806. Unlike most of the shoe laces I have had on other brands of athletic shoes, these laces never come undone and I mean never. I don't have to double-knot them. I don't know how New Balance does it, but I certainly appreciate it whenever I see other players stop the game to re-tie their laces on other shoes. As I said, I like the 806 durability. The uppers have never shown much wear, let alone wear out. The soles wear slowly on the heels and outsole under the ball of my foot as expected and when those two areas wear enough—as expected—I replace the shoes. I usually get well more than a year on each pair.
They look great and I wish they had fit but the length was too short and the width way too tight. I would suggest ordering half size longer than normal and perhaps even wide.
I work for USPS and these shoes were great while I had them with some very minor issues. This will be my 2nd pair. They wore down to almost nothing at just under the year mark. The foam sole retained most of its properties but I could definitely tell the foam wasn't as reactive around the 6 month mark and I was starting to feel the ground more. There isn't much for support. These are extremely lightweight and comfortable but your feet will warm up quick in direct sunlight because of the material that the upper is made of, although they do breath well. It looks like New Balance has stopped producing the New Balance Men's Fresh Foam Slip Resistant 806 V1 Industrial Shoe or are planning on coming out with a newer version so whatever is available is most likely all that's left I'd assume. New Balance has the Fresh Foam Arishi v4sr as a similar alternative. I also ordered those directly through New Balance as I like to have at least 2 pair of sneakers to switch up. Overall the New Balance Men's Fresh Foam Slip Resistant 806 V1 Industrial Shoe is a great shoe if you're going to be relatively active for work. I'd probably not suggest these for a restaurant setting honestly. As they do breath well, I'd imagine water and oils would seep in easily and create a problem. I'd rather give these 3.5 stars just because of the issues I experienced. Worth the price of $79.99 as of this review on 06/01/2023.
