From the moment you step into these shoes, you'll notice the impeccable fit and plush cushioning. The lightweight Techlite midsole not only offers exceptional impact absorption but also promotes energy return, making it easier to navigate tough terrain.
The waterproof capabilities are particularly impressive, featuring a protective layer made of durable suede and breathable mesh that keeps your feet dry even in wet conditions. Whether you're trekking through muddy trails or navigating rocky paths, the non-marking rubber outsole provides reliable grip, enhancing stability and confidence with each step.

I've walked – outdoors – about 2 miles a day for the past 20 years, some on trails, but in recent years, more often on concrete and asphalt pavement. Over the decades, I've purchased and worn (and worn out) half a dozen different brands of "trail" and "walking" shoes, some waterproof, some not, a pair designed for "stability," and the rest not. These shoes from Columbia are easily the best walking shoes I've ever worn – I'm now on my 3rd pair. My feet are slightly narrow ("C" width – which few manufacturers make), but even in a "D" width, the fit is quite good. I've had no issues with their being waterproof, and stomp through puddles without a second thought. Durability has been excellent, with 800-900 miles (about 15 months) before a pair has worn out. I wear them pretty much all day, every day, and traction on rock, trails and pavement (wet or dry) is excellent. I don't walk indoors (i.e., mall-walking) with any frequency, so I don't have an opinion about the shoe's traction on a smooth mall floor. They're very good in snow, not very good on ice, but I've never had a pair of shoes that was any good on ice unless I was wearing crampons. One reviewer didn't like the rounded heel, but for me – I'm 73, but don't have any "stability" issues – the rounded heel is precisely why the shoes are so comfortable. The rounded heel allows my foot strike to be totally natural – there's no squared-off heel forcing my foot into a particular angle or direction – and my foot then naturally rolls to its natural position as I continue the step and push off. The result is a very comfortable and natural gait, with none of the "slapping" I've seen some old guys like me have when the ball of their foot comes down on the walking surface. I rarely dress formally in retirement, so don't mind the "outdoors-y" look of the shoe, and I've purchased and worn them in both black and brown. They've been equally durable and comfortable, regardless of color. The only negative I can think of is that the laces supplied with the shoes are – as is usual nowadays – far too long, and I've had to buy another, shorter, pair of laces to avoid having a loop dragging on the ground.I hope they're still available 10 years from now, and wish Columbia would make a genuine hiking boot with the same kind of heel.
Listen to me , and read the other reviews. These shoes run one size small. I normally wear size 11, but after reading the other reviews I ordered a size 12. They fit perfect. My foot runs a little on the narrow side and I found these shoes to be a tad snug on the width, but still comfortable.I've worn these shoes for a week, walking on mostly hard surfaces, and can honestly say there are extremely comfortable. The heal has a nice cushiony feel. No break-in was required. The shoes haven't seen any moisture yet, so I can't comment on it's ability to repel water. I'm look forward to taking them out on the trail. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.
The shoe is nice. Good feel the first time I wore the shoe and went for a walk to break them in. Great grip as well. Haven't tested water resistance yet but as long as they can repel rain and shallow puddle water that's all I need. My only con to the whole shoe, and it's a little minor thing, is the heel end of the sole feels maybe a little narrower than it probably should be. I wonder if I'm going to run into instances where my heel strike might wobble a bit because the heel just isnt quite as wide as I'd prefer. It's not a reason to not buy the shoe but I love stability when working and most of the shoe feels stable I just wonder how the heel will feel after a few weeks. I like the shoe though and the brand is reliable so for under $100 I'd say this is a good shoe to target for mild hiking. I don't use it for that - I use the shoes for work as I'm a satellite installer for internet and phone and needed something with better grip and could handle getting wet. I feel confident that these shoes will get it done. If not I'll update my review if they slip up in the early going. I don't expect shoes to last forever but I'd like to get at least a year out of these.
These are the best walking shoes I've ever owned. I ordered the first pair in February of 2021, so they are almost three years old. They are definitely comfortable, definitely waterproof. The original pair are looking pretty rough, sole is almost gone, I got a tear in one side from a stick on a trail about a year ago and they still keep my feet dry! I purchased a different variety of Columbia walking shoe last year, but they were not as good as these. The style is getting a bit dated, so I ordered a new pair while they are still available. It's the second day wearing them, and they are already as comfortable as the original pair.
First off, don't follow the sizing chart. I have always worn a 9 to 9-1/2. I have a high arch and gout in my big toes so I need a wide toe box, (not a wide shoe, rest of foot is a medium), because my toes don't like to be cramped. Size chart said I would wear an 8 to a 8-1/2. Well I trusted my gut, (and the best price), and took a chance on my usual size, 9-1/2. Foot went right in, correct length, barely a 1/4-1/2 inch of length left in the toes. Width was good. They are leather so they are not very forgiving in the toe box. A little cramped, but I finally got the strings let out enough and now they are stretching and fitting much better after 2 hikes of 2 miles each. I love the shoes now that I have worked out the kinks. I will buy them again if needed in the future. I might consider the wide width, but this time I was concerned they might be to loose on my foot.
I really like these shoes and out of the box they are easily a 5 star. They feel great and the traction was absolutely fantastic, for the first month. I bought these to use when I play disc golf and go hiking. Initially, the shoes had great grip in all types of terrain - mud, rocks, grass, even on slopes. However, the soles have worn down quite quickly and traction is starting to become an issue. I'd love to give these shoes 5 stars but just can't due to the wear. I'll have to replace within the next month or so and this is simply too soon based on the price.
