I've had foot problems stemming from high arches for about a year now. It's caused plantar fasciitis and various other serious problems all the way from the forefoot up through the ankles and into the knees and hips so my footwear choices have become critical. Due to my inability to go barefoot, I was pleased to find that there were some summer options in the form of orthotic sandals that I could wear around the house or at the beach and after some research I narrowed it down to the Spenco Yumi and the Vionic (Orthaheel) Wave. It was a tough choice because the Vionics have a higher arch which I would have preferred but the Spencos boast a metatarsal pad. It's not a big one but for me every little bit helps.Since every foot is different these won't work for everyone but I feel comfortable recommending them to just about anyone whether you have flat feet or high arches because they seem to be able to help a lot of people. If you have some of the highest arches ever seen then these might not be enough for you and I would recommend the Vionics or look into other options. The build quality is really good and they're quite comfortable. They're also quite handsome and you won't stand out at the beach or the mall as the dork in orthotics. I have been pleased with my purchase and I would buy them again. For those who are interested here are some observations and random facts. These shoes do run a little big as mentioned. I wear a 10.5 but ordered a 10 and they fit well. I also have wide feet and usually wear a 4E and my feet take up about every inch of real estate available but are still comfortable. If you have really narrow feet these might feel a little big. The heel is pretty deeply cupped and has pretty good motion control if that's a concern. The first day of wearing these the thong between my toes hurt like heck but it didn't take long to get used to. It doesn't say it in the description but these do have the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Seal Of Acceptance. These are waterproof and can be worn at the pool or beach without damaging them. Hopefully this review helps and if you're on the fence I say go for it.Update: Been wearing these every summer for almost 4 years now and aside from being stained by dirt they still work and feel great! They've really helped relieve pain. Totally worth the money.
I am 46, and until a couple of years ago I hated "flip-flops" mostly because of how uncomfortable they feel between your 1st and 2nd toes, and how badly my feet would start to hurt after only half an hour of walking in them. I am also a big guy -- 6'2", 265lbs -- with flat feet. Add to that the bone spurs in my feet and the tendency to get plantar faciitis.Flip-flops, sandals, thongs, slippers -- whatever you call them where you're from -- were definitely not for me. That is, until I happened across these sandals at a local , trendy shoe retailer. These sandals are amazing. They are designed and made by a company which makes, of all things, orthotics. They support my weight and compensate for my flat feet like no other sandal I have ever tried. Over time, they form to your feet, like any good orthotic should, making them so comfortable you forget you're wearing them. And I never even feel the strap between my toes, it is so well designed. These sandals are so comfortable and stable that I wear them constantly throughout the warm seasons. I buy two pair each spring, one for getting dirty working in the garden and one for cruising around the house or walking the shoppes. To me, they are well worth the price. I can even comfortable drive a car with a manual transmission wearing them...something I can't do while wearing any other sandal. Another test is how long can you stand in a pair of sandals before your feet start to hurt...in these, I have not found a maximum yet. In other sandals, it is something between 15 and 30 minutes.I have tried a couple other branded sandals with arch support, but they never got comfortable. So I came back to these. I only hope that they never stop making them.
These are the only sandals I ever where. They are comfortable all day long with great support and your foot does not slide out of the sandal. I re-order this same sandal year after year.
Love these flip flops. They are comfortable and provide great support. I’ve used these I’ve the past 6 years and just ordered my 3rd pair.
These are extremely comfortable for walking. Good arch support and wide straps mean my feet don’t get tired or have blisters even when walking several miles.
My husband has wore this brand over ten years ...the orthopedic arch support is great ...comfortable and last years ...once you put them on you can't wear regular flops again ...BUY A PAIR
Just replace the same pair. Previous pair lasted 4yrs. Good product.
My go to was always super feet but they stopped making sandals. Tried Vionic but the arch was insanely high. These I have mixed feelings on - might work as a house slipper, but not for outside.Pros:- nice medium level of support. Less intense than Vionic. Still good for plantar fasciitis suffers like me.Cons:- the color I chose (men’s) was a bit feminine. I get they were going for the cork look but way too light for top and bottom- VERY soft. Not quite Crocs soft but close. I felt like I was squishing around in them. ( If you are heavy or like cushion insoles then this is a pro)- it’s true - they fixed the sole delaminating issues by just not laminating a rubber sole. The midsole foam is the bottom, and you can feel it isn’t gonna hold up to concrete long.
