EXCELLENT quality in design, materials, and construction. There are a lot of subtle design elements that make them very comfortable, and they are comfortable. They look great, not cheap at all. Support around the foot is great, snug but not constricted. It's January in Wisconsin, I have not tried these on trails, just around the apartment. HEAL LIFT: These have a pretty high heel lift, more than any shoes I have, maybe close to an inch, not sure. I suppose to cushion the heel for hours on the trail.
FIVE STARS! These ECCO sandals are excellent! I am very picky and was very impressed right out of the box, now even more so. The fit and feel are the best I have ever walked in. They have 3 adjustments; one is the heel; another is the top and across the toes. The design is unbelievable - there is a very small, tiny ridge going across the sandal at the bottom of the toes which is barely noticeable. With the 3 adjustments you can adjust it to put the small, tiny ridge where it feels great. This makes a perfect fit. When you run your hands over it is hard to find or feel. Also, the adjustment at the toes is incremental so you can adjust a little for sock or no sock! That is genious!. The sandles are really comfortable to walk in - even all day every day with no issues. I walk on grass, concrete walks, gravel, dirt, thru and in water and it has excellent support with no smell... I wear a size 10 running shoe; these are 91/2 and fit perfect. I was going to get a different type of sandals so I would have 2 different sandals. Now I am going to buy another pair of these just another color. I had a question before I bought, and the seller go back immediately. If you go with these ECCO's you'll be glad you did.
Let me start by saying that I am PICKY about my sandals. I wear them 6 days a week, year round, everywhere I go - not just in the summer, since I live in a hot area. So whatever sandal I wind up choosing needs to be very comfortable, suitable for sidewalks and offroad alike, and able to last for years with daily use.I ordered these Yucatan Brandy lux color as well as the Yucatana Bison and Yucatan II Cocoa, decided to stick with these and send the others back. For whatever reason, the Brandy lux color looks either very dark red, or dark brown, depending on the light - the picture is pretty accurate, but I was surprised how hard I had to look to see they were red. Also, this color is impossible to find in physical stores (they only ever carry black or brown), and very difficult to find on other online retailers, so thank you Amazon for having such a wide selection!First thing that jumps out at me is, the footbed between the Brandy Lux and the Bison are slightly different; there are ever-so small curve differences in the footbed, and the heel straps feel different. I can only assume that Ecco changes small details about the Yucatan sandal every so often & never mentions it. So if there's something about the sandal that rubs you the wrong way, like a curve in the footbed or a strap that rubs your foot a bit too much, try a different color, you may notice a difference. The Bison color top foot strap rubbed my foot raw, but the Brandy lux color strap is as comfortable as can be; but I like the Bison footbed more because the heel is slightly less molded, more flat, than the Brandy lux. The top foot strap on the Brandy lux is slightly longer than the Bison color, but it can be tightened more than the Bison, but the Bison has a little more velcro to work with than the Brandy lux color. All that said - these are minor quibbles. The Ecco Yucatan is the most comfortable sandal I've ever worn, and prior to this, I only wore Teva's. The footbed is harder than the Teva, but the sandal has better molding of the footbed. I like it more than Teva's flatter footbed, though I completely understand why some people would prefer the Teva - it really is pure personal preference.Previously I've tried on Rockports and Dockers, and they always have some problem - either the sandal is stingy with material and doesn't span the entire footbed, or there are size/information stickers on the side that rub the foot raw, or the gimmicky cushioned double-heel has stitching that you just can't stop noticing - there's always something irritating about them. Not so with Teva or these Ecco Yucatans - they slip on like a glove and they just feel "right" with the very first step. A good sandal shouldn't need to be broken in - if you're paying good money for it, the sandal should feel great with the first step, and after you've walked in them for an hour or more. The Teva's I've always loved, and Ecco Yucatan that I just discovered, fit this bill. They're expensive, but you're paying for comfort, and the long-lasting quality that will keep your feet comfortable for years & miles to come - you won't have pain or blisters even after walking around all day, that's what (and why) you're paying for with good footwear. When these wear out (and all sandals do after a time), these will be at the top of my list for replacements
My husband loves ecco brand products so I got this pair of sandals for my dad since he was long overdue for an upgrade hoping sneaker quality translates to the sandals also! My dad said they’re the most comfortable sandals he’s worn and is looking at upgrading his sneakers with ecco as well.I wasn’t planning on leaving a review since these weren’t for me but my dads been wearing them around the house breaking them in and keeps asking me to tell everyone on Amazon these are a 10/10. So here’s me relaying the message.
I had a previous pair of closed toed Ecco’s in size 43, the size which I have historically worn in Ecco shoes. I continue to rotate 3 pairs of size 43 Ecco dress shoes. However, the size 43 sandals, while fitting well for around the house/grocery store use, left me with blisters on the outer edge of my feet any significant walking or hiking attempts. I bought a size up in these Yucatáns. Initially, they felt slightly large, with the arch being in proper placement, but my toes feeling somewhat off from the moulding. After spending a week in them around the house and then about 1-2 miles at least 4 times a week, and now currently on day 6 day of over 6 to 10 miles a day of paved and mild trail walking and hiking for a vacation, I have found that they have contoured well and moulded to my feet; most importantly, with no blisters. I do like the three adjustable Velcro straps. I have not found that the straps are curling (yet). I have gotten them wet, but not purposefully submerged them. They are more expensive than other similarly styled sandals, but have been more than worth the purchase, especially on my trip with planned for daily extended use. I have had other reasonably comfortable sandals that are cheaper, but they did not last as well and ultimately feel like what they cost during a trip of similar activity level and duration. I no longer have those less expensive sandals. I am happy with how these have been broken in, but not worn down, with lots of life left in the tread.
