The Chaco ZX1 Ecotread Sandal is designed with both style and functionality in mind, making it an excellent choice for active kids. Inspired by the classic basket weave, the webbing pattern offers a unique look while providing a snug fit. The two narrow polyester straps are part of a Custom Adjust’em system, which means they conform to the specific contours of young feet for increased security and comfort during wear.
A standout feature of this sandal is its ChaPU midsole, which sits atop the contoured LUVSEAT platform footbed. This combination is engineered to provide exceptional arch support and promote proper body alignment—essential elements for growing feet. Since its establishment in 1989, Chaco has been committed to producing footwear that lasts, focusing on a sustainability model that emphasizes repairability over disposability.
The ZX1 Ecotread Sandal features a double-strapped polyester jacquard upper that wraps securely around the foot and through the midsole, ensuring a customized fit for various foot shapes and sizes. With an adjustable and durable high-tensile webbing heel riser, you can find the perfect fit for your child. The injection-molded ladder lock buckle allows for easy adjustments, so even busy parents will appreciate how quickly their kids can get ready for outdoor adventures.

I purchased the Chaco ZX1 Ecotread Sandal for a trip I was going on last summer. I am an adult who chose to buy children’s sandals because they are a little bit cheaper. I wear a size 5-5.5 in women and the 4M fit me perfectly. I would recommend this shoe for any adult whose feet are small enough to buy children’s shoes, but I would also recommend these shoes to parents who are looking to find their children durable and supportive sandals.Arch SupportThe arch support on these shoes are great, it made my foot feel like I was wearing a tennis shoe. My feet did not start to ache quickly like they do when someone wears flip-flops. I could walk all day in these shoes and my arches would not be aching.StrapsYou can adjust the straps to fit your feet perfectly. Once the straps are adjusted the shoes will fit that way unless you adjust them again. The only thing about the straps that was a bit challenging was that the side strap is long for me after adjustment. I do not mind that the strap is a little long because I just tuck it in when I put them on. I would wear these shoes in just about every situation because I know that they are secure on my feet. The design of the straps gives my feet a lot of air, and they do not get too hot on a summer day.DurabilityThese shoes are very durable no matter where you are wearing them. They have a thick rubber bottom that has a lot of traction. They grip the ground extremely well and they are thick enough that if you would step on a sharp rock or glass you would not even feel it on the bottom of your foot. I wore the shoes everyday this past summer and they still look brand new. There is not a lot of wear and tear that happened because they are made well.VersatilityI wore them in a lot of different environments, and they were great in every situation. I wore these shoes to the beach and would sometimes wear them into the water. The Chaco’s were easy to wear on the beach because of the back strap that held them onto my feet. I also took them hiking, and I did not regret the decision to wear the sandals over tennis shoes. They stayed on my feet well because of the design, and they also have great traction on the bottom of the shoe so I was never worried I would lose my footing.Up-KeepThese shoes are easy to clean up if you get them dirty. They dry extremely quickly if you happen to get them wet. When they were dirty I would hose them off and could wash them with soap.Overall, I have compared these sandals to other outdoor sandals that my sister’s have and I think these ones are the best. I am definitely going to be buying another pair for this upcoming summer. This is such a great product and I am excited for it to warm up again outside, so I can start wearing my Chaco’s.
Those shoes are great and the size was perfect. Lots of support for my child.
I bought these Chacos in size 4 Big Kid from Amazon as they were covered by Prime Shipping, and unfortunately they were too small for my 7W feet. No problem, I returned them for free (I love Prime!). I found the same sandals in the right size on another website for a much better price and bought them there, so here's the review.First of all, if you are a woman and wear size 7, you can totally go for a size 5 Big Kid, and, if you like having a little room, maybe a size 6 Big Kid should fit well, too. I like Chacos beacause you can adjust them as you like, even if your feet are not exactly identical. It might take a little bit of time to find the right adjustment (for those who are not familiar with these sandals, you can find Yourtube tutorials on how to adjust them effectively, and there are instructions pictured inside the box, too). The sole is not stiff, so you can wear them right out of the box without any break-in needed. In my case, I had to "educate" my feet to appreaciate the phenomenal arch support - being used to flat sneakers made my feet react with a little pain at first, but I'm now wearing them every day with no problem. As for the style, I would not wear them at a fancy dinner, but they look very nice with tight jeans - in other words, they don't necessarily giving the impression you're about to go for a hike. Finally, these look very sturdy, so unless you want to buy more than one pair, pick the color wisely, as these definitely look like they'll last a looooong time :)
Love them. Easy to adjust straps with included instructions. Fit well with excellenc arch support. I have very high arches and they fit perfectly. So comfortable. Get a lot of compliments
You’d be hard pressed to find better made sandals that hold up, are comfortable, and look good for as long as you have them. These are perfect for the kids running around the beach or everyday wear.
I have adult women Chaco so I wanted to see how these compare. I was getting them for my kids as well but in different colors. We are all the same size I thought but no one is the exact same I found out. These were smaller in arch and width than the women’s size. These were great for my narrow foot kids but not for his twin brother. (Fatter foot in every direction) They wear the same size running shoes but one has wide and the other regular. We ended up returning one of them and getting 2 sizes smaller which are still a little lose when trying to tighten.I kept the teal ones for myself. I usually wear or 8/9 shoes with wide toes. The teal I wear around the house. They have an arch witch I need but not as high as the adult. I have a pic included of the teal child sandal and the black adult size. The straps on the teal is short. Almost to short. You will also know the children teal have my foot spilling out the sides as well. This makes them hard to run in.I am keeping the teal but prefer the larger women’s sandal to the kids. The teal children's is also lighter but that may have to do with the black ones being an older version (I think they are 2 years old and have gone through water, running, and daily life still holding strong. )
We love chacos in our house! My daughter loves these. I let her have a couple runs in them before posting. Super comfy, great support. Love them
