Detailed Review

The Wolverine Men's ShiftPlus Polar Range Winter Boot stands out as a top choice for those who need reliable footwear for cold weather activities. When it comes to insulation, the 400g PrimaLoft Gold Aerogel does an excellent job of keeping your feet warm without adding bulk. Users report that the warmth provided by these boots is truly impressive, making them ideal for winter hikes or long walks in the snow.

Another significant advantage is the waterproof feature. The full-grain leather upper and breathable membrane work together to repel water while allowing moisture to escape, ensuring your feet remain dry and comfortable. This is particularly beneficial when navigating through slush or snow.

In terms of comfort, the removable PU footbed and the DuraSpring midsole offer ample cushioning and support, allowing for prolonged wear without discomfort. However, some users have noted that the boots may feel a bit heavy compared to other models, which could be a consideration for those looking for lightweight options.

The Vibram Arctic Grip outsole is a game-changer for traction, particularly on icy surfaces. Many reviewers highlight their confidence when walking on slick ground, reducing the risk of slips and falls.

On the downside, some individuals experienced a slight break-in period, where the boots felt stiff initially. Once broken in, however, they tend to mold to the wearer's foot, enhancing overall comfort.

These are GREAT! But they do run a little bit small.

First things first, I live in Michigan and I'm absolutely horrible on ice. I decided to start researching boots that might help a little with traction a few months ago and discovered the Vibram Arctic Grip outsole so that is how I stumbled upon these boots. Also, I typically wear an 11.5 WIDE which is a difficult size to find so when I found these boots and read the reviews I felt they were worth a shot.Let me just start with the most important thing to me, traction and stability in slushy and icy conditions. So far these boots have performed OUTSTANDINGLY in slush. We have a good amount of icy slush today and when I went out for a walk in my Reebok's I really had to be careful. I put on these boots and walked along the same area and it was a night & day difference. Granted, I wouldn't try to run in these boots and I'm still being careful with each step, but I don't feel like my feet are slipping out from under me. And when testing in wet ice/slush I could not move my foot once it was planted. It was very, very impressive!I'll still be careful when I walk, but it's nice to know there is at least some extra grip/stability thanks to the Vibram sole. With all that being said, these boots do run a little small. Not small enough for me to return them and try a larger size, but the toebox is just a tad short and the shoes are just a bit snug at the widest part of my foot. I think I'll either be able to break them in a bit for a little relief or I'll just get used to them. It's not THAT bad IMO but something to be aware of.So far I really like these boots. We'll see how they perform on harder ice. I'm sure I'll still have to be very careful, but it will be interesting to see if they provide extra stability.I will update this review if necessary.

Top-Notch Boot for Narrow Feet

As a big foot (size 14 US/48 EU) and a moderately wide forefoot, I have a hard time finding shoes and boots that fit. Despite several reviews stating these boots run small, I took a chance and ordered them, only to confirm what everyone else wrote. The length of the boots seems about right, but my toes are crunched in the narrow toe box of the size 14 and there is no wide option and no size 15. Bummer.Sizing aside, these look like incredible boots. Material choices are top-notch and I'm sad I didn't get a change to try the Vibram Arctic Ice soles on ice.I noticed that the price went from the $135 I paid to $190 a week later. For the price I paid, I think the boots are a great value.

Ultimately I will end up returning this product

The good: I absolutely love the soles on these boots. In fact this is what attracted me to them in the first place. I have very similiar soles on various running shoes and they really do improve traction though they wear out fairly quickly - think of them as snow tires for your feet. The fit: Marginally small. I wear a 10.5 in Red Wing, Danner, Rocky, and frankly most Wolverine boots. A 10.5 in these do not fit well and do not feel like they are going to break in to fit. MAYBE a wide would have solved this but I expect you have to go up at least a half size from normal and maybe go to wide if available. Why I will return them: I don't love these boots when I put them on. Not a deal killer as boots do break in. That faux gaitor / sock thing on the top of them? Just no. This is going to be one of those things that you fight with every time you put the boot on and is going to do nothing. It is not tight enough to function as a gaitor and actually keep snow out and it "gaits" to inside the top of the boot so it is going to give snow a place to sit. It is also fabric so the snow that sits there and potentially melts, even if it doesn't come in, is going to just make it soggy. Boot socks go up beyond this anyways and are going to give a path for moisture wicking (FYI if you are wearing winter boots and not wearing wool socks you should rethink that) Seriously on this one guys: What was the design team thinking?

Warmest and dryest boots I've ever worn.

I purchased these boots because I was tired of cold wet feet while fishing tournaments. When fishing tournaments in the rain or snow, you're stuck out on the boat for 8-9 hours with nowhere to go, so you better have the best gear available. I purchased these particular boots they're waterproof and have 400 grams of insulation. On day one of the tournament, it snowed on us the entire day (see attached photo of the conditions) and my feet stayed very warm and dry. These boots are amazing and have recommended them to several other anglers who were complaining about cold wet feet. These are my go-to boots for the winter and will definitely purchase these boots again in the future.

Definitely not wide.

I bought these specifically because they are the few brands with arctic grip that offer wide width. Wow am I dissapointed. I've never had a WIDE pair of boots fit so narrow! I will try them a bit longer in hopes they stretch but they really mash my little toe. I definitely think a different brands regular would fit the same and likely save you some money. I have updated my review and reduced it further. These boots are absolutely unwearable. I was wishful I could break them in but even with a boot stretcher it's torture wearing these. They seem oh good quality but unless you have a very bizzarely shaped foot look elsewhere 🤮

So far so good

These are holding up extremely well thus far. I am a "package handler" walking/jogging anywhere from 10 to 20 thousand steps per day. And these boots paired with comfort insoles...are doing an awesome job after about two months. My only complaint are the laces... They come undone way too easy.
