Merrell Women's J42834 Espresso Review

**Since winter hasn't actually hit, yet, I will update my review later. Since there are no other helpful reviews, I thought that I would at least try to help other potential buyers.**These boots fit as expected. I typically wear an 8.5 or 9 shoe, sometimes in a wide size, depending on the shoe. I ordered a 9 (to allow for boot/hiking socks), and they fit quite well. They seem true to size. The soles are molded and offer tons of support. This is typical of the Merrell brand. It'll probably feel weird to those who don't wear shoes with good support very often (flats, heels, etc.). UPDATE: These boots are super comfortable to wear and walk in for extended periods of time.The outer soles have what Merrell calls "Select Grip" with what looks like good tread on the heel, ball, and toe areas, though I will update with my experience once we get slick snow and ice. UPDATE: These boots get good traction on snow and ice. As always, be careful walking on ice, but I was comfortable and confident walking in these.These boots are fairly easy to put on and take off. The upper is structured enough to stand up on its own, but flexible enough to move and work with you when trying to put them on. This flexibility is also nice while wearing them, because they walk more like a sneaker allowing you more range of motion in your ankle than a heavy snow boot. They are also very light weight. These boots will not weigh you down- they feel like freedom compared to heavier, traditional show boots.They seem warm, with a nice amount of lining/insulation, but they won't overheat your feet during a day of shopping inside where it's warm. I haven't tested their waterproof abilities, yet, but Merrell says they are, and boots from the same brand I have owned have been truly waterproof without any treatment (even after 7 years of wear). UPDATE: Yes, they're waterproof, as advertised.The look and colors are fun and casual. I was looking for an everyday boot that was more interesting than the typical black boot with faux fur fringe. These are it. These will also not show salt and dirt like a black or light colored boot. I will likely scotch guard these before winter to help repel stains, though I'm not sure it's necessary.Finally, Merrell is a great brand that offers high quality products. They've thought of pretty much everything. I purchased these boots to use for going to work and running errands- everyday kind of boot. They are replacing my previous everyday boots, which are also Merrell. Those have served me very well for 7 seasons, and they are still warm and comfortable (I won't be trashing them). However, I decided I wanted a mid-calf boot, instead of a low boot, and Pechora Sky was my careful selection. I live in Michigan, and I'm sure that they will keep my feet happy, warm, and dry.

Merrell footwear has always been a long lasting and high quality product. Along with those attributes came a price that was over my budget unless I found them on sale. I was so attracted to these I went ahead and put in my size to see what they cost. The price of these boots is unbelieveable! I thought it was a typo or that when they arrived they would not be up to the typical Merrell standards you'd expect but I ordered them anyway and I am SO glad I did. These boots are amazing because they are so unique looking, easy to take on and off. The laces are great allowing you to fit them just right for you. They are so snuggly and warm since they are lined with a faux fur. The footbed has good support and is well balanced. They run true to size with a sock on. I love the grey multi combo too but the price on those is too high for me right now. I hope they are marked down sometime soon. Obviously I recommend these boots and I can't wait for the cold weather!

I thought I'd throw in a review because I found them helpful when ordering these. I am ordinarily a size 9 shoe. Based on prior reviews, I was torn on if I should size up or not, so I ordered two pairs - the black in a size 9 and the grey/multi in 9.5. The black fits well on the foot and actually feels even a little big in the leg (and I generally have problems with tall boots being too tight on my calf), but look good and feel comfortable. The half size up was clearly too big for me, even if I were to put on extra socks.The foot support feels good, but the legs are kind of floppy, so be aware if you don't like that (this is not a design flaw, just the way this style of boot is - I am used to wearing sturdier winter boots).I bought these off season because they were an incredible deal, so I will have to update on how they stand up to winter weather. I am skeptical that they will be fully waterproof, but it looks like others have had good experiences.One last note - I preferred the black color because my wardrobe is rather muted, but the grey/multi looked cute and quirky, but were unfortunately just too big.

These are awesome! I love the way they look. I am going to buy thicker shoe laces because the ones that came with the boots are very thin and look kinda off. They are warm and comfortable, but not a lot of support inside. This is actually good for me because I was really looking for a light weight winter boot. These are super light. I bought them a half size bigger and they fit perfect.

I'm size 7, I want some wiggle room for thick sock, so I got 7.5, great fit! I think I have to let everyone know, these boot are for someone with small calves. I'm 5'1" 93lbs runner with skinny legs!

I looked at these months ago but they didn't have my size so when they popped up on my feed the other day, I snatched them up. I am normally a size 8 but after reading reviews ordered an 8.5. There is plenty of room for my inserts, loose enough to feel like comfy slippers but a solid fit with socks and inserts so I'm not sliding around inside them. And they're super cute! They are not as tall as the product shots make them look, coming about mid-calf, and are super easy to get on and off.
