We live in the Midwest and my husband walks 20k steps a day outside, year-round. He’s rated these boots THE BEST for keeping his feet warm and dry, while providing great traction and a comfortable fit. Zipper makes putting boots on/ off easy.
These boots fit well and most importantly have a trustworthy grippy sole.
The Merril Boots proved to be a regrettable purchase. The gaping opening, excessively large, led to persistent ankle discomfort due to constant rubbing during walks. The internal design exacerbated the issue, as an excessive amount of space above the foot created an uncomfortable fit. Despite the brand's reputation, these boots failed to provide the expected comfort and quality, resulting in a disappointing experience. Prospective buyers should be cautious, especially if seeking footwear with a snug fit and proper ankle support.
Genuinely, the overall dimensions of this boot are designed for someone who has logs for feet. I have wide, flat feet, and typically order a 10E which fits perfectly for my Keen and Vasque summer boots. I don't know if this is a typical fit for Merrell's, but these genuinely felt like I was wearing size 12E or bigger. Insanely loose, to the point that my feet could freely move in every single direction when fully zipped. Instantly started the return process.
The boot is tough to get on. This stems from the curvature in the back. I press my foot into it and use the loop at the rear to pull it on. They fit and support my feet very well when they are on. They are comfortable to walk in and definitely waterproof. The zipper works very well. All-in-all I like them.
very comfortable and waterproof. I really like them. Easy to take on and off and high quality boots. Also, have great traction when it is snowy and slippery.
Lots of complaints about putting it on - a shoehorn would make it super easy, for sure. The pull strap at the back without one makes it a minor effort. My guess is people complaining are too inflexible/not in good enough shape to bend over/get their foot up and into a good position. Again - shoehorns are a thing... The boot itself is great. Fitted. Warm. Comfortable on longer walks thus far.
Light weight, durable, comfortable
