My son was so excited for his new sneakers!! No more sand or wood chips getting into his shoes at the park. They are very nice and the craftsmanship is superb. They fit just as expected. I will be back with an update on how they held up.
Easy on and easy off because of the stretch laces and one Velcro strap. Very light weight and cushion insole was a favorite feature by the 7 year old very active boy. This is probably the 5th pair of Stride Rites we have bought in the last 3 Years very durable and comfortable. Although this is the second pair of these shoes because the dog chewed up the previous ones with in a week.
They did the trick in a pinch. Stated they were for wide feet. But they were a little tight. Not bad though.
I do not typically buy my children's shoes online, but in the local stores any shoes that were affordable for my growing boy (who is also really hard on sneakers) there were not many options. I asked mom friends of mine what brand of shoes they recommended for a 6 year old active boy.... and a lot of my friends suggested Stride Rite. I had bought Stride Rite shoes for my new to walking toddlers because of their great support and flexibility but had not considered them for my big boy. So far, so good. He likes them and they are comfortable. He has only had a few weeks to wear them, but he hasn't worn them out yet.... thank goodness! He usually wears out shoes in about 3-4 months, even though he has not outgrown them, so we will see how long these will last. I will update my review in a few months to report how they are holding up.*UPDATE*As noted before, my son is really hard on shoes (I am guessing most 7 year old boys are)... That being said, they lasted through the rest of the school year. I purchased them about 6 months ago and they have definte wear, including holes on the top part, but the soles are still good. He has been using them as play shoes this summer and they aren't completely outgrown yet. I would get these again if they had them in his next size because I want to move him up to the next size for this school year. I would highly recommend these sneakers for active boys!!!
The quality of the shoe is great, however it was difficult to put on.
These are great shoes. First, they look like a big kid shoe but are easy for younger kids to put on. I ordered a wide but they still look narrow and athletic vs a wide box style, so they provide a better athletic fit compared to the Saucony sneakers that my son also likes but don't hug his foot as nicely. The structure of the footbed is nice with good cushion and there's good traction on the bottom. Overall a really nice shoe particularly for an athletic kid.
I have been buying size 6 shoes for my son, but his feet finally got bigger. 7's are still too big, and 6.5 are really hard to find. I ordered these and I couldn't even get it on his foot, they were smaller than the 6's he's been wearing. Incredibly disappointed as neon green is his favorite color.
My 3 year old son does not have wide feet and these shoes very narrow and tight. He has mastered putting shows on by himself but could not put these on by himself. Even I had difficulty putting them on for him. Color was nice and quality seemed decent but way too small so I had to return.
