These are a great next step shoe - up from the Stride Rite Soft Motion line. I was concerned from the flexibility aspect, but that hasn’t been an issue. Although these are not as soft as the Artie Sneaker, these are the closest I’ve found.Additionally, the Wes Sneaker has as much support in the foot bed as the Artie - both sporting memory foam. The leather on the Wes is more firm, but great quality and thickness helping with durability for advanced walkers (jumpers, climbers, and runners as they tend to be at this stage).I have been impressed with how comfortable they seem on him, he hasn’t complained once of them hurting his toes and doesn’t rush to take them off. They are breathable, unlike most of the Pedipeds I’ve tried where his feet sweat like crazy. The Wes is easy to get on, although the Velcro strap could be a little longer given the thickness of the tongue.Overall:Quality is exceptional; A suede leather tongue, sturdy leather upper, memory foam insoles, flexible but durable outer soles, and wide but rounded toe bed for less falls make these an awesome shoe for advanced walkers...and one I would highly recommend.
I love these shoes! They are the only shoes I can find, even within the Stride Rite brand, that actually fit our 2 year olds chunky feet. His feet are tall, as in, "fat" from the sole of his foot to the top. The 6.5 XW actually fits and I didn't have to jam his foot in. I have another Stride Rite, same size, some XW that barely velcros closed on the strap. These I can latch, though the velcro is close to the "non sticky" part. Unlike the others, at least it does stick.I'm not sure about other kid specific brands, but the XW seems just wide to me. He can wear New Balance, regular wide width. The best thing about these aside from being so cute is how flexible they are. Plenty of room in the toe box, and the brown rubber lip on the toe hides dirt so much better than white soled sneakers. Love them so much I'm ordering the next size up also.
My experience with Stride Rite has always been that, while pricey, they hold up longer than cheaper brands. I started my kids in Stride Rites and then moved to cheap shoes because they grow so fast. But I think that's a mistake because the wear and tear shoes get on the playground at school makes the speed at which you're replacing shoes even worse. So-- enough with the light ups and the Mickey Mouse and whatever cool, flashy feature that begs our children's attention. I want a pair of shoes that don't look like they've been through the swamps of sadness in just 2 months of use - stained, with threads fraying and soles falling off and holes in the toes. I convinced my 3 yr/o that these are faster than his light up shoes were, and they are. He moves better in them. They have great soles. The brown won't show stains from the mulch and dirt and grass. I expect to get more time out of these, but if not, I'll come back with an update. My only complaint is that the tongue curls (vertically), which makes it a little hard for him to put on by himself, but I think that will change as they get more wear.
It’s been a little while now and we were really liking these sneakers for my sons feet which are really wide and thick, but the Velcro has started to wear down and the straps really don’t stay put anymore. The slightest nudge unfastens them and it’s easy for my son to trip or for his feet to come out. Disappointed.
Adorable toddler shoes. They seem built well, very comfortable and fit as expected. I gave 4/5 stars because I expected there to be little more support in the sole. He doesn’t seem to mind but when I press my hand in them you can feel all the grip bumps in the bottom of the shoe and they are only two weeks old at this point.
I hope this review helps some moms out there as it helped me to find the right PT approved shoes for my toddler. My two year old toddler is a toe walker and he has to temporarily wear braces for 6 months to help his feet walk flat on the floor. As the braces take up space in his shoe, his PT advised us to look for really wide shoes, 1 or 2 sizes bigger than his normal size so he will have a comfortable stroke as he walks.I looked around online for weeks buying what was advertised as W/XW shoes for my son, just to be disappointed upon receiving the shoes as they were narrow and they didn’t stretch enough to put them on.Then, my neighbor recommended this brand of shoes to us and even though I was already fed up after returning 10 pair of shoes that didn’t work for our needs, I went ahead and order the shoes!I got them within two days of ordering them and I was surprised that they were not only beautiful, but super wide and comfortable for my son to wear his braces all day long or as needed. My son is 2 years old, and he wears a size regular 7. These shoes are size XW9 and they are perfect for him!! What a blessing to have found these shoes! Thanks Amazon!Ps. I also bought a size 9M pair of crocs At Zappos.com which also work perfectly for my son’s needs.
I love Stride Rite shoes for my little. He calls them his faster running shoes, but they can be cleaned up for family dinners or church too. The toe box is a little bigger than most kids shoes, but I don't really worry about him outgrowing them as fast. They have been holding up really well and still look great after a few months of park, sand box and muddy play.
This is my son's 3rd pair of this style kWes) of Stride Rites. We like this brand bc they have XW and the shoe is easy for him to walk in due to the awesome flexible soles. They are nicely padded as well. They hold up beautifully even through his balance bike rides and skidding. The last pair we had, the velcro had worn out by the time he outgrew them but I gave them to a friend and she took them to a cobbler who replaced it for like $10 & her kid wears them all the time. I'll be sad when he outgrows the largest size in this style bc they've been great shoes. Highly recommend!
