Detailed Review

The pediped Grip-N-Go Jake Sneaker stands out due to its thoughtful design catered to pre-walkers and early walkers. The leather construction offers durability while still being soft enough to avoid causing discomfort on those delicate little feet.

One of the most significant aspects of these sneakers is the flexible sole, which mimics barefoot walking. This feature is crucial for toddlers as it helps them develop balance and coordination. Furthermore, the breathable leather lining ensures that even during active play, their feet stay comfortable and odor-free.

The adjustable velcro strap allows parents to secure the shoes easily, accommodating growing feet while ensuring they do not slip off during playtime. Plus, with toe protection added, you’ll find that these shoes can withstand the rough and tumble of toddler life without showing signs of wear too quickly.

However, you should consider the price point. While it is an investment, the benefits to your child's foot health may justify the cost. Additionally, the color options are somewhat limited, which might not suit every parent’s preferences.

Adorable quality shoe for new walkers

These are adorable and well made. I wanted something soft soled yet protective and sturdy for my son who is just starting to walk. I understand the "barefoot is best" mentality, but those people obviously do not live in Los Angeles (I don't need my 10 month old getting Hep C at the park). Anyhow, these shoes have a protective yet soft bottom, which is a little more substantial than Robeez, which are great for crawlers, and walkers inside, but I wanted something more for outside. He hasn't seemed to complain about these shoes like he does his sturdy Sunday shoes, so I think they're comfortable.

Worth the money...

Our little one started walking soon after she turned 10 months old, and once she started walking, she wanted to walk everywhere... which meant we had to find a pair of shoes to protect her feet. We purchased several pairs, from soft cloth booties with rubber soles to sneakers. Those shoes all had issues - the booties were easy to get on her feet, but tended to shift so that she was walking only on part of the sole. The other shoes were harder to put on because her little feet are on the chunky side, and once she had them on she would just stand there. She wouldn't even lift up her feet to try to walk. After reading many reviews and researching baby shoes, we decided to order the Pediped shoes. I thought my husband was going to choke when he heard the price. Truthfully, it was hard to commit to spending the money but I am really happy we did. The shoes are super easy to put on her feet, and she doesn't complain at all about having them on. She walks really, really well in these. The material is supple yet feels durable. They are light and provide good support for her feet. Now that she has such a good pair of shoes, she is practically running all over the place. She already seems to be hard on shoes but these shoes are holding up nicely. This has been such a positive experience that neither my husband nor I regret spending the money for these shoes. I anticipate that she will be able to wear these for a while until it is time to get her a bigger size. The only negative is that the shoes are a little slippery on the tile floors in my house. On carpet, outdoors, in stores, etc. they are just fine.

Go blue!

Love these pediped sneakers! They fit well, appear to be comfy (no blisters, etc), and are cute! They're perfect for my son who just started walking. This is the second pair that I'm getting--I bought the green/orange ones first but wanted another color & also to have another pair to alternate between. The material for the blue ones is softer than the green ones but they're pretty much the same otherwise.

Pretty good look with the poorest quality.

These sneakers look pretty cool, are very soft and look comfy. Yet, unfortunately they are of the poorest quality you can imagine. I bought them for my two year old son, and it only took weeks before they started tearing apart. 3 months later they looked terrible and the rubber sole was disconnected from the leather body all around the shoe. Will never buy pediped again.

Great first shoes, but seam is not waterproof!

These are great first shoes. I bought them for my son for his first birthday. He has been wearing them for 4 weeks. They are easy to put on and off although becuase of the velcro (which is very handy) I do not agree with any reviews that state that these can be put on with one hand. The velcro always sticks back together as soon as you let go to guide the foot in, as it should). This is not enough to remove a star. I took one star away from my original thought of 5 stars because the seam attaching the upper part to the sole is not waterproof. We went for a walk in a light rain and, without going into any puddles (really!), my son's socks got all wet around the seam area. This was disappointing. He and Mom both love the shoes though. My son loves to sit and watch me put them on him while he helps pull up the velcro strap on the second shoe (getting it ready for Mom) and then he enjoys handing me the second shoe to watch me put it on. I have noticed right away that the tongue of the shoe comes up quite far so very short socks do not work with these shoes as the tongue of the shoe causes a red mark or brushburn on the ankle where it rubs. I was afraid the shoes were not going to work out after the first day but I switched to higher socks and never again did I see the red mark. Never bought any other toddler/infant shoes so I cannot comment on the quality compared to cheaper brands and whether the cost is worth it but my suspicion is that for at least infant shoes (for our beginning walkers) it is worth it. His daycare teachers have all commented on how sturdy they are yet still soft and comfortable. They said most infants wear such flimsy soled infant shoes that they have a hard time walking. Not so with these Pedipeds, they really are the next best thing to bare feet! Highly recommend these shoes, would definitely buy them again.

Excellent choice- both mommy and baby agree

I bought these for my 13 month old son, who is not yet walking independently. He crawls and cruises. He does not keep socks on (ever!), and as the weather turns cool, I needed something to keep his feet warm, that he won't take off. I bought the size 6/12 months, as my son is small (about 20 lbs/15th percentile for weight, and 8th percentile for height). They fit nicely- there is a bit of room at the toes, when I pinch them to check, but not too much room. They are tight enough to stay on all day, but I'm not sure he even tried to take them off, as he seemed pleased with them and stuck his feet out for me to put then on him! Once, when I took them off I noticed a very light red pressure line on the top of his foot, but I had pulled the Velcro tight that day. I loosened the Velcro the next few times I put them on him, and I haven't seen any pressure lines since. He has worn them with and without socks. He seems to like them! From my end, they seem very soft, and the inside bottom seems like a 'cushy' leather, as does the top/tongue. I'm very happy with these. I imagine that once my son starts walking 'for real', these would work too, although then I might choose something with more traction, etc.
