Product | Weight | Cushioning Level | Drop |

ASICS Gel-Nimbus | Medium | High | 10mm |
Brooks Ghost | Medium | Medium | 12mm |
The Topo Athletic Men's Specter certainly lives up to its name, offering a comfortable and supportive ride for runners. The fit of the shoe is one of its standout features, thanks to its engineered mesh upper that hugs the foot without feeling restrictive. The use of recycled materials in the upper not only promotes sustainability but also contributes to its lightweight feel, making it an excellent choice for those focused on eco-friendly products.
When it comes to performance, the Specter's 35 x 30 mm platform, combined with a Pebax Powered core, provides a soft yet responsive cushioning experience. This makes it ideal for anyone looking to maintain speed while enjoying the plush comfort of a well-cushioned shoe. The thoughtful design of the aggressive heel and forefoot rocker allows for quick transitions, giving you the push needed to move swiftly through your run.
However, it's worth noting that some runners may find the level of arch support insufficient for their needs, especially if they require more stability in their footwear. Additionally, the single-layer mesh upper might not offer the warmth desired for colder days, making this shoe better suited for temperate climates.
Overall, the Topo Athletic Men's Specter is a fantastic option if you're seeking a lightweight, high-performance running shoe that doesn't compromise on comfort. With its thoughtful design and sustainable materials, it stands out among other shoes in its category.

This one of the few shoes that I've tried that feels comfortable immediately. It supplied cushion in the areas that I need the most. I used to run in Nikes, but seemed to have some foot discomfort, no matter what style I bought. I have also tried other major brands, such Asics, Hokas, New Balance, Adidas, etc. It seems with these brands that even if I found a comfortable shoe, they would end up tweaking it or making changes, which ended in shoe that didn't work for me. Hope Topos will not make the same mistake.
I've tried all the best brands, this one is the most comfortable and best to run, walk in.
I am generally a Saucony fan, but decided to take a chance on these. Excellent shoe, very light, nice build quality. Extra large toe box well ventilated. I nice cushioning These are my go to training shoe. Will probably buy another pair. Plus I think the color scheme is uber cool.
If you are running hard then great shoes. If running zone 2 or rucking pass. Your feet will get exhausted. I rebought the firmer soled variety from topo and they serve me far better for zone 2 and rucking with 70 pounds.
Super lightweight, great cushion, but supportive. Snug upper fit paired with the wide toe box makes for a fantastic experience. I pair it with Injinji lightweight running socks which allows my toes to splay and function properly in the shoe. Not that it matters, but the color scheme is also great. I hope they don't change a thing anytime soon.
I was so excited for these shoes. My wife got them for me for my birthday. They are sooo comfortable, but on my second run, the sole started coming apart. Less than 25miles later the right shoe sole is coming apart. Disappointing because they were so expensive.
The bottom tread is thin and the fabric is see through thin on the top. I could tell these wont last long. I tried them on and was not impressed with the fit. It's a shame, i expected more for that price. Returned them.
I've always loved Topo for their foot shaped toe box. The quality is always high. The same with Specter. Great fit and great quality. The shoe itself is built as a racing shoe, and could be a racing shoe for most of us, but it lacks that last little pop a carbon plate would have added to this shoe. For me who needs the wide toe box, most likely this will be my race shoe, but I keep wondering how good of a shoe this would have been w a plate. I'm glad Topo went with Pebax a huge step forward. Specter is also responsible priced!
