I ordered these for my husband, and he was actually really excited about them upon arrival. They are a little outside his stylistic norm, but not by that much, and he was happy to test drive them. He instantly found the size to be right on, and said they are very comfortable. So comfortable, in fact, he wonders if the cushion will hold out more than a month or two of daily wear. My husband like to take long walks (4-8 miles generally) in the woods, and he is a roofer. He likes that the soles are ‘grippy,’ though I certainly wouldn’t suggest anyone wears them for that purpose. He just tends to be very sensitive to how shoes feel. He doesn’t have anything negative about these, so we’re hoping they last. Overall, these seem to be a quality shoe at a fair price, that fits great. Can’t ask for much more!
This is a solid pair of comfortable and supportive shoes. They do run a bit on the small side however. Mostly they are too narrow, when comparing side by side with my other shoes of the same size (12.5 US) I can see that these cut in tighter in the middle of the sole. The length front to back is good though, they stay on and don’t slip off my heel when wearing them.If you have wider feet like I do you may want to go a half size or so up. The toe room felt slightly tight at first and my pinky toe felt pinched at first try on. In fact when I first put these on I thought they were too tight and not going to work at all it just felt way too tight. I loosened up the laces and walked around a bit and once things got settled in and adjusted they fit much better. The top part of the shoe is a little bit stretchy so that helped with toe room.I was able to test these on a cold rainy day trip to the store. The stretchy mesh top is breathable and I could feel the cool air on the top of my toes when outside. These will not normally be a winter shoe for me. In the summer that breathability will be nice to have. I walked through some shallow puddles and my feet stayed dry, no issues there with waterproofing. Walking around in the store on my feet for about 30 min or so was great in these shoes. The cushion in the sole is solid but still has a nice little bounce to it. The heel support is amazing too, it seems thicker at the heel, sometimes I get heel pain when on my feet for an extended period but not with these shoes. There is a low very mild arch support which is perfect for me since I have flat feet and a high arch support usually just hurts my feet. These also have good laces and stayed tied and in place well. Overall I am really pleased with this pair of shoes. They are comfortable, very supportive and it feels like they are well made and will last a while. I recommend. The only issue I have is that they run small. If I was to order them again I would get a larger size since I have wide feet and I also prefer more toe room. I would give them 4.5 stars because of the smaller fit. But it only lets me do 4 so I will rate these with 4 stars. Sometimes buying shoes online is hard since you can’t try them on in person. I hope you found this information helpful. Thank you for reading my review.
I have a hard time finding comfortable shoes because I have a very wide foot. These fit really well and do not seem to squeeze my foot. They are flexible and have a really grippy sole. Overall, they are lightweight and made of materials that breathe, and I am impressed with how comfortable they are. Not tried this brand of shoes before, but I think that they are as comfortable as any on the market.
First thought: These run too small. Second thought: OH MY THESE FIT LIKE GLOVES. After 10 minutes of wearing them, these felt like they conformed to my feet and became incredibly comfortable. They are disturbingly lightweight (that's a good thing), and the treads are quite grippy on the dirt trail. They even did pretty well on a quick walk in the snow. They aren't waterproof, in case that makes a difference, but for dry-weather trail walking they're incredibly comfy and do a great job sticking to the ground when you need them to. Long term? No idea, but after a week of wearing them I'm quite pleased.
When I buy a pair of shoes, I have and use them for years. It was always tough for me to find a pair that both fits me and is comfortable enough. I sometimes have foot pain issues so I almost always need size wide and it's not always available. When I finally find a pair, I take good care of them so they last me years. Almost always the ones I end up choosing are some kind of outdoor type because they are always better built to my preferences and lifestyle. I've been tirelessly looking for a new pair without success. I honestly wasn't familiar with Salomon but my wife told me they were a highly regarded brand. The description sounded right so I gave it a chance. I'm really glad I did!Overall, I find these comfortable. Despite usually needing wide size shoes, these actually feel quite good. A smidge wider would have been optimal, though, but I don't feel any pain when wearing these so far. The ortholite insoles feel great and the rest of the inside is soft and cushioned. They do have a bit of a different design than I'm used to. The inner platform is higher which raises your foot up to the point like you're pouring out the top. The tongue bulges under the laces because of this so it's a bit odd. I had to really work with the laces so it wasn't squeezing my feet but eventually I found the sweet spot. But because the insides are elevated and my feet aren't deeper in what would normally be the stiffer part of the shoes, I think this is what is compensating for me feeling comfortable in non-wide shoes. The shoes are super lightweight but it doesn't feel like it compromises on durability at all. You can really feel this difference on your feet as you move around. The traction underneath feels great and the spacing between the nubs are far enough apart where gravel or sticks will never get stuck so they are really easy to clean. These shoes are indeed ideal for every day use, whether on the pavement or off it. My wife and I enjoy the outdoors, especially going for walks/hikes so for lighter trails it's perfect. It also helps when we go to parks to watch our nephews play the sports they're involved in which is always nothing but hilly areas with grass, dirt, gravel and of course muddy conditions depending on the weather. These are definitely going to be my every day shoe for the foreseeable future.
