Detailed Review

The Mizuno Men's Wave Inspire 16 excels in several key categories making it a solid choice for both casual runners and serious athletes alike. Here’s a deeper look at what this shoe has to offer:

Comfort: One of the standout features of the Wave Inspire 16 is its premium cushioning system. The U4ic Midsole provides excellent shock absorption, which is crucial during long runs. Additionally, the engineered mesh upper allows air circulation, keeping your feet comfortable and dry.

Performance: This shoe shines during high-intensity workouts. The Smoothride support technology helps facilitate smooth transitions from heel to toe, allowing you to maintain speed without sacrificing stability. Whether sprinting or cruising along at a steady pace, this shoe accommodates your dynamic movements.

Excellent Shoe, excellent fit, very comfortable

If any of you have ever tried the Nike Max Moto series throughout the early 2000's, but were disappointed when they discontinued it, then this is the shoe for you. For pronators, this shoe is very well padded, giving you excellent support, and will keep your feet comfortable all day, even if you are overweight. Mizuno makes other kinds of running shoes, but the Wave Inspire is their flagship. I have never worn a Wave Inspire that I didn't like; these shoes are well built and won't fall apart as easily as their Nike counterparts. You don't have to be a pronator to use them; it simply means they have extra padding on the sides and arch, which is a good thing for just about everyone, in my opinion (remember that less padding equals more shock on your joints). I also like the shoelaces they use; they don't undo while you're running. In terms of longevity, I usually replace my running shoes every ten months, but you can wear them even longer if you take good care of them. Mine still looked great after ten months, but as a frequent runner, I was told that the materials are the most springy during the first ten months, so I don't usually keep a pair longer than a year at most.

Cinderella Story Concludes

In the case of the glass slipper fitting (me and this metaphor), it does so perfectly. It has been a long journey of checking my stance and gate, buying shoes, and soul inserts. Each one either a little big around the toes, or to tight around the bridge of my foot. Some felt to constrictive and other to loose. To top it all off, there was a reoccurring ankle injury and what felt like shin splints.I have used these shoes for two weeks now and I can run and jog with minimal ankle pain and no foot cramping. The "support" categorization feels true to its name and the sole isn't so large that it interferes with other exercises. It is hard to say anything bad about the shoe since it has resolve some of minor aches and pines that were a hinderance during a workout.I might change the review as I time passes. As for now, the Frog has truly found its princess and the metaphors are mixed.

Works well

Great trainer even for long distance. Neutral foot with >30 miles per week. Seem to be lasting well. Fit as expected

A very comfortable shoe but somewhat hot

I run about 12 miles a week and also lift at the gym 3 days/week. I want a shoe that I can wear to do both. When I find a shoe I like, I want to buy it again. I had been wearing a neutral Mizuno but it has been discontinued. I tried the Mizuno Sky 5 but I thought there was too much cushion in the toe. I tried the Wave Rider 24 and love it so I have those in blue. I also ordered this Wave inspire 16. Even though this shoe has more support than what I had been wearing, it is still a really comfortable shoe for me. I have found it to be fairly hot, though. They are black and not well vented (like my old mesh shoes). It was also a sunny day when I took them for their first test run. They were so comfortable with the right amount of cushion and spring for me. I also love the way they look. I really like them and recommend them.

Loved it!

Ran the Tokyo marathon with those this year and felt no discomfort whatsoever the whole time. Light but still good enough cushion underneath which is my favorite kind of cushion. Will definitely buy more in the future.

Just Right

First a disclaimer: If the shoe doesn't fit, don't wear it. Running shoes in particular should fit your feet correctly. Your heel shouldn't lift out of the back; there should be ample toe room in front w/o the shoe being too loose overall, and too-tight shoes are bad. I started running in Wave Inspires some years ago because (a) they fit me well and (b) they're the right kind. I'm a light guy (130 lbs) and a flat-footed over-pronator. The Wave Inspire has the stability I need. I use them for running on concrete or trails or anywhere, and they last a long time in good shape. This latest model, the 17, feels as good as the 16s, the 15s, and I forget how many before that. If you need a stability shoe and the fit suits you, highly recommended.

Graet sneaker

I was on a zero drop kick for many years, but also owned very early versions of the mizuno wave before that, going back almost 15 years. Now that I'm over 50, my heels and tendons are no longer resilient enough to use 3mm zero drop running shoes on asphalt and concrete. While I still like those for trail hiking, the days of running in them are over.I took a risk and purchased these straight from amazon without testing, and they work great. There is just a wee bit of movement, which I feared would cause blisters or at the very least some skin issues and I was prepared to either return these or use bandaids or body glide to prevent issues. Surprisingly though, up to 8.5 mile runs, anyway, there have been no issues at all.Great running shoes.Still, I worry about the rubbing a little on runs longer than 8.5.

Perfect for flat feet

I do ironmans and have tried my share of different brands for my flat feet. I have extremely flat feet and am an overpronator. 20 years ago when I ran collegiantely I was recommended to get Mizuno for my flat feet. I loved them then but also love ASICS and Brooks Beast. Going back to the Mizuno has convinced me to go back to the old days and stay with them. They have a bounce and support that I need while being lightweight. I don't care about my running shoes looking the best but these are really cool looking as a plus.
