Product | Cushioning | Stability | Weight |
---|---|---|---|
Mizuno Men's Wave Horizon 5 | High | Excellent | Moderate |
Nike Air Zoom Pegasus | Medium | Good | Lightweight |
Brooks Glycerin 19 | High | Medium | Heavy |
The Mizuno Men's Wave Horizon 5 stands out for its advanced cushioning technology. The combination of Enerzy Foam and XPOP absorbs shock effectively, making it ideal for both short runs and longer distances. As you lace up these shoes, you'll immediately notice how they cradle your feet, providing a snug and supportive fit.
In terms of stability, the U4icX midsole plays a crucial role. It keeps your foot aligned and reduces the risk of injury during long runs, especially for those who overpronate. Additionally, the X10 outsole assures durability, giving you confidence that these shoes will withstand the test of time.
However, while the cushioning and stability are notable, some might find the weight to be on the heavier side compared to other models like Nike's Air Zoom Pegasus. This could be a consideration for competitive runners prioritizing speed over comfort. Despite this, the overall design and functionality make the Mizuno Wave Horizon 5 a solid choice for anyone seeking a reliable running shoe.

After 3 months of going for twice weekly runs in these Wave Horizon 5s, I am ready to post a review. Great running shoes and fit my wide foot fine. I have previously worn the Mizuno Wave rider 23s and I had no issues switching over. I think these shoes are great. I run both on paved roads and on gravel/dirt roads at a local park both uphill and downhill. My only wish is that more colors were offered by Mizuno.
My favorite long distance run shoes are Mizuno. They are very comfortable and a great options for runners who need a stability shoe. They fit as expected.
This shoe has been worn pretty much every day during the summer. I highly recommend it. When I first got them, people seemed to notice how cool they looked.
First time I wear the horizon series. Great looking sneaker! Not as comfortable as the wave rider, which I have owned since the 20 version. Wish Mizuno made these sneakers with a dark sole version. I have seen one version with dark soles but only for women. Nike, NB, Brooks, etc. All have dark versions. I don't understand why Mizuno don't. Is it too small of a company? If anybody knows of a dark version, please let me know.
So well made for my feet. Comfort, stability, the whole shebang!
I have feet issues so finding a great sneaker to wear is sometimes challenging but this is one a few brands that I truly love. They fit well and are the right size. Colors are sometimes not the best but I like these and that is why I bought them again. Last year is when this current model came out as an update and thought I would try them out and have been very happy with them. Again this is a great product and I just use them for walking.
Very comfortable. I had Mizuno before and lasted more than a decade.
I had a pair of Adidas Ultraboost about to weary out, and decide to give Horizon a try...it's so supportive to especially the arch of feet.
