Nike guy reconsiders!

I've been a Nike guy my entire adult life. It seems every time I've tried another brand I was disappointed. Mizuno Men's Horizon 4 Running Shoes were a notable exception. After three months and I say they are the best shoes I recall having in a long time. They fit my feet perfectly and are super comfortable. I was a national class runner 35 years ago, but now mostly power walk 3-4 miles a day. I sometimes run the downhills too, just to feel the rhythm. They seem to have just the right amount of EVA cushion for my 140 body and heel strike, not too much, but enough to comfort my 57-year-old joints. Another feature is a relatively tight heel box that stabilizes the shoe. So far, they seem more durable than average for running shoes.

Great for Disney

I purchased these shoes for my time at Disney. I am not a runner, but purchased Mizuno running shoes for a trip to Disney 10 years ago. For our most recent trip, I decided to do the same. I am sure these are comfortable for running, but these worked so well for walking and getting around during my Disney trip. I would recommend this for anyone who is looking for a comfortable shoe. The fit was as expected.

Just the right support

When I run my knees like a little support-- and my heels like a fairly cushioned pad. This shoe fits the bill, especially for 10K and longer. Looks great, well built, very rugged, should last plenty of miles. And it doesn't feel like it's got too much support-- just enough. My three runs have been very comfortable-- and my feet have been happy. I do wish it were a little bit lighter in weight and cooler. FYI-- I'm usually a men's 8.5 regular in New Balance and Brooks, but in Mizuno I need to go up half a size to a 9. At 9 regular this shoe fits me perfectly.

Great stability shoe

I used to wear Mizuno Wave Inspire and switched to the Horizon. It’s a lighter shoe with the same stability and support as the inspire. The “wave” style in the horizon is constructed of foam instead of a harder plastic plate. The result is a lighter and more cushioned version of inspire.

Good comfort and support, but disappointing durability

The shoe is very comfortable and with good support, however after only owning them for 1 month and subjecting them to only a dozen or so walks with my child in a stroller, the material has started to pull apart from the top lip of the shoe around my right ankle. I don't know if this is a common problem with this model, or if I just got a poor example, but to me this is unacceptably poor durability for a shoe so expensive... I was hoping that the the buy once, cry once approach would be worth it, but right now I'm feeling a bit disappointed.

Improvement from Wave Inspire

I’ve been on Wave Inspires for the last 10 years. Switched to Horizons this time around. Just got back from my first run and I’d say they feel like a 40% improvement. Love the foam wave. Shoes are lighter, cushier, breathe better, and still seem to support me well as I have some pronation issues.Inspiring to run more, oddly.

decent sneaker

I bought Mizuno Wave Paradox sneakers for years and LOVED them. When Mizuno discontinued the Paradox I decided to try the Horizon. It is slightly heavier than the Paradox, and does not seem as well ventilated - my feet feel hotter in this sneaker. It is still a Mizuno, so it fits well, is comfortable, and controls my pronation. Next time I will get the Inspire (and save some money).
