Most character shoes are hideously ugly, but this one looks nice. Although my ankle has a torn ligament, the shoe feels very sturdy especially when the dance requires balance on one foot. I have a nice pair of ballroom dance shoes that I considered using for the performance, but I couldn't do one of the one-foot hopping steps in them. I need more stability for that bad ankle. But I can do it with the character shoes. Also the wide heal makes them easy so stand in during rehearsals. The shoes do run a bit small, but not unusual for dance shoes. I wear a size 5 street shoe, a 2 1/2D in point shoes, and 2 1/2 in ballroom shoes. I purchased a 5 1/2 after reading the reviews that the shoes run small and the size is about right. I would not go bigger and if I had ordered a size 5, I believe they would've fit enough to use although a little tightly. I do not find the shoes to be too narrow even with my D size.I do find that the straps need another opening. (Perhaps the size 5 straps would've fit more snug) And I have high arches so ideally I'd like more arch support. I was hoping that with the 3" heel the shoe arch would touch my foot as it does with my 3" ballroom shoes, but it does not. The 3" heel and the shape of the shoe makes legs and feet look good. The color is good, soft and muted. During rehearsals, the other dancers asked where I had gotten the shoes.
After reading several reviews that mentioned that these shoes ran narrow and that one should order a half size larger, I went ahead and purchased them in size 9 (my street shoe size is 8 1/2). I should have listened to Capezio's advice instead (advising you to start with your street shoe size). The shoes arrived today and to my dismay, they were too big. I will be returning them and purchasing my normal size. If you have wide feet, I would recommend ordering a half size up, but for someone with feet of an average width, I would suggest starting with your street shoe size.Aside from the sizing issue, these shoes are well made and the heel height is perfect for the shows I'll be doing.
Beautiful and comfortable
These shoes are quite lovely and bode well for an upcoming performance. Excellently crafted and built from quality leather and suede. The cut on the ankle strap looks very nice when on and is comfortable.I have an odd sized foot due to long ago sports involvement which makes buying character shoes difficult. I was dismayed when I first put them on to find that they were too long meanwhile my toes were being crushed. However! As they are leather, I decided to wear them around the house to see if they would flex to my foot. Within minutes, the shoes had begun molding to my foot shape and became increasingly more comfortable. The toe box has molded to fit my foot quite perfectly, but the shoe is still somewhat large due to the length and the ankle strap. The ankle strap is long itself and the holes for the buckle cover a small range of sizes. I wore them with the smallest buckle hole and was still able to fit two fingers between the strap and my foot. I plan to add additional peg holes to keep the shoe tight for dancing.Above all, a very well built shoe of fantastic quality for the price, though with a couple off proportions. I have gone with other less expensive character shoes in the past and never had them feel quite as comfortable right away as these. I would purchase this style and brand of character shoes again.I am very excited to break them in for a upcoming show.
They feel stiff and not comfortable. I do like the style. I bought other shoes (just like this) paid a little more, but soooo worth the comfort!
I bought these shoes to wear at a wedding because I wanted good support and good looks. These shoes provide both a very classy look and comfortable stable support with the wider heel and strap. I don't wear heels very often (and the last time I did, I fell and broke my shoulder!) so I purposely looked for shoes that weren't "sky high" with spiked heels and pointy toes. These shoes make it easy to walk and make my legs look elegant. I ordered a half size larger than my normal and went with wide width for comfort and they fit like a glove. I've worn them around the house to "break them in" but honestly don't feel like they needed it. I can't wait to wear them at the wedding!
I'm very satisfied with the shoes, very comfortable for my medium to wide size feet. I find the shoe true to street size as indicated. I first bought half a size bigger because most reviews advise to do so but I ended up returning them and getting my true street size 7 Wide, instead, which is comfortable for walking, However, for dancing, I find it a little too loose, so I ended up wearing sneakers socks to give me a snug fit. I might want a half size smaller (6 1/2 W) so it will be more snuggly fit for dancing. The returns are very easy, the customer service is excellent and they even call you promptly when you wish. I just ordered another pair for my daughter as well, and the delivery is very prompt.
I really wanted to like these shoes because I needed them and the style/color would have worked for me. They seemed like well-made dance shoes. However, the fit was completely off. After reading several reviews, I took the advice to order a Wide, although I do not have a narrow foot and normally wear a Medium/B width. Still, this shoe was much too narrow and tight across the ball of the foot. I also ordered a half size up from my normal dress shoe size, but that was unnecessary and made the rest of the shoe too big. So, while the front of the shoe was too tight, the back of the shoe was slipping off my heel. Another factor was that the ankle strap could not hold the shoe on because it is extremely long and I already tightened it down to the very last hole. This shoe would work on someone with a very narrow foot and very thick ankles. If that is you, I would recommend that you order your regular dress shoe size but in a Wide width.
