Detailed Review

When you slip your feet into the Bloch S0388L Ladies Tap-Flex Split Sole Tap Shoe, the level of comfort is immediately apparent thanks to its full Kashmir lining which not only feels great but also helps manage moisture during intense practice sessions. The full leather split sole provides exceptional flexibility, allowing for fluid movements crucial in tap dance.

A standout feature of these shoes is the non-slip pro balance rubber pad positioned next to the front toe tap. This ensures a secure grip, reducing the risk of slipping when executing quick footwork. Additionally, the strong heel counter adds stability, making it easier to maintain balance while performing intricate routines.

As for aesthetics, the elegant black leather finish pairs well with various dance attire, making them suitable for stage performances and casual outings alike. However, some users have reported that the shoe can feel a bit stiff initially, requiring a break-in period to reach optimum comfort.

In terms of sizing, it’s essential to note that many recommend starting with half to one size larger than your usual street shoe size for the best fit. Overall, the Bloch S0388L strikes an excellent balance between comfort, functionality, and style, making it a fantastic option for serious tap dancers.

The most comfortable tap shoes ever!!

I’ve been dancing for more than 40 years and treated myself to a pair of these luxuriously soft tap shoes. I’ve worn many styles and brands through the years, and they ALL hurt my feet- until I bought these! The toe box is generous, and the shoes run true to size. I now plan to comfortably dance the next 40 years wearing these… they are a little pricey, but worth it for real leather uppers with soft & flexible soles with NO PAIN- I highly recommend them!!!

Comfy and nice tap sound

I purchased these to replace a pair bought several months ago that, while cheaper, are clunky, stiff, not comfortable, and have poor sound. Now that I'm in a real tap class I needed a better shoe. These are beautifully made, incredibly comfortable, and have nice loud taps. Class #2 was much more fun in these shoes.

Great shoes, prefer them to the Capezio

I'm a beginner at tap and I initially bought the Bloch Women's Tap-Flex Tap Shoe in my street size (5.5M). It was a little tight, so I ordered the Capezio Women's Flex Master Tap shoe in a size 6. Though both brands fit well, I found that I prefer the construction of the Bloch and returned the Capezio. Both are nice shoes and sound great. Here's a comparison:Bloch Tap-Flex:- Shaped more like an Oxford, wider at the ball and tapering toward the toes- Soft leather upper. The flex sole is stiffer out of the box than the Capezio. A couple of weeks and the flexibility has improved while still providing support.- There is no stitching around the support at the back of the shoe in the Achilles tendon area. The edge of the support caused some friction but nothing a pair of socks will not mask.- Liked the short laces. Even if they come undone they are not a trip hazardCapezio Flex master:- Shape is different. It looks and feels somewhat like a ballet shoe mounted on heels- Very soft and flexible right out of the box. In fact, too soft and flexible for me because I could feel the edge of the heel transfer through to the insole. Probably something to get used to with time, but I found the feeling distracting.- The heel is rather long and extends forward almost to the arch. This may not be a problem in larger size shoes. The Bloch heel stayed well back from the arch.- The blue insole is comfortable at the heel but stops just beyond the arch. The ball and toe area appear unfinished inside and I kept feeling the transition through my socks.Hope that helps!UPDATE January 2024: I'm back here to buy one size bigger on the same shoe because my feet changed size through pregnancies and kids! My original one has held up well over the last 10+ years and I'm handing them down to a cousin :)

Good fit

Good fit. Sturdy taps. My only complaint is that the black leaves scuffs on the floor (the tan tap shoes do not).

perfect tap shoe

I tried a number of tap shoes and this one is the best. Comfortable and easy to dance in. I found that a half size smaller than I usually take was best.. A bit tight to start but then eased up.

Works For Me

What I like best is the flexible leather aspect of these tap shoes. I have bunions and these tap shoes do NOT hurt my feet and I assume they will give a little as I wear them.
