I have been wearing Asics for years. Their shoes are well sized for a shorter man, and stand up well to road running patterns. However, the GT series are by far the best shoes I have owned in the past 5 years. Their midsole stability is great, allowing for little flexion on uneven ground. Of course this shoe provides padding along the heel and forward sole. Providing comfort and protection with longer strides and sprinting. I would recommend this shoe to anyone who, traditionally runs on a flat road surface or track.
I have very flat feet and therefore pronate quite a bit. Running is something that I have avoided for a few years but I did my research on-line and decided to buy the ASICS GT-4000. I ordered the size I normally wear (US size 8.5) and they fit perfectly. I have not ventured yet on the road but I run on the treadmill every two days for 3-5 miles and so far I am very impressed. The shoes seems to reduce the pronation and my ankles have not been sore so far. If I were to improve the shoe, I would increase the amount of arch support a bit. Oh, and I find the shoes quite light. Bottom line, they were a great purchase.
I have only had them for 3 days, and haven't worn them much(I work in a kitchen). I like Asics because they seem to fit me best. I have wide feet, and these are perfect. Last pair I had were Nimbus 16's, these are almost as comfortable, but are probably a third of the price of new Nimbus. I like them, and would order them again, or recommend them to a friend. It is a nice breathing, light, shoe.
I purchased this pair because the GT-1000 in 13 X-wide was too small around big toe. Purchased these in a 14 X-wide in GT-4000. To my surprise they were wide not X-wide. I tried them on after changing insert. So far so good. I have looked at the 13 4e and the 14 2e and they look the same width. On treadmill tomorrow we will see.on a side note, I still cant understand how shoe companies charge 100+ for shoes and stick in a thin foam garbage insert.
I read another review somewhere that these were well known in the flat foot running community as great shoes, and I certainly agree. I've been running for 25 years and these are the definitely in the top 2 or 3 pairs I've ever had. No need for any insert either which is a bonus.
I have tried them all and these shoes are my new favorite now because they provide real motion control while being very light and cushioned. And they don't even look weird like many motion control shoes do. They also are lower to the ground in heal without any noticeable difference in height from heal to toe, and the inner side of the heal does not have the awkward height difference with the outside of the heal that bbeast does. For me, these asics4000 are the best.
Super comfortable running shoes that actually fit my flat feet. No more sore arches after running off and on trail.
I need a shoe with mild stability, medium cushioning and a wide forefoot. This shoe does that and has become my favorite running shoe. I'm 69 and most shoes will cause problems with my heel, forefoot, achilles or knee. This shoe minimizes those problems.
