Your experience with the ASICS Men's Gel-Cumulus 22 is likely to be defined by its remarkable comfort and performance. The 3D print upper ensures an adaptive fit that conforms well to your foot, giving you confidence as you increase your pace. When it comes to cushioning, the combination of Rearfoot and Forefoot GEL technology provides excellent shock absorption, making every step feel soft yet responsive.
For long-distance runners, the FlyteFoam Propel technology stands out. This innovative foam formulation propels you forward, ensuring that the energy returned with each stride keeps you motivated to push your limits. Additionally, the Guidance Line midsole technology enhances your gait cycle, making transitions smoother.
Despite its many advantages, some users have noted that the fit may be too narrow for those who require a wider toe box. While this shoe excels on roads and tracks, it can feel less responsive on rough terrains, which is something to consider if your runs take you off the beaten path.

I've been wearing ASICS Cumulus for a few years, and have been increasingly disappointed with the quality.I started with the 18s, which I found to be extremely comfortable, with ample cushioning and an open toe box. The first time wearing them, I felt like I was walking on clouds. The only issue I had with the 18s was that the upper mesh was easy to rip. After going through two pairs of 18s, I gave the 19s a try. The upper mesh was sturdier, but the toe box was slightly smaller. Also, the cushioning seemed to take a hit as well, but they were still adequate. When the 19s wore out, and I tried to find another pair of 18s, but they were out of stock everywhere. I decided to give the 20s a try, and I was extremely disappointed right out of the gate. The cushioning was pretty much non-existent. It was so bad, I took the insoles out and replaced them with some orthodic spenco insoles, just to make the shoes usable. The build quailty of the 20s however, was top notch. It was an extremely sturdy and good looking shoe.I was never able to try the 21s, but from reviews, I've gathered the cushioning was just as bad as the 20s. With my Cumulus 20s just wearing out, and all of the older models I was okay with out of stock, I decided to take a gamble and try Cumulus one last time.I'm please to say It feels like I'm walking clouds again! The 22s have excellent build quality, have returned the wide toe box of the 18s, and have great traction. I am beyond happy that the Cumulus have returned to form, and this is the best pair of shoes I've had since the 18s. My only complaint is that the shoelaces are not as smooth/elastic as previous Cumulus models. It seems ASICS used the cheaper shoelaces that the Gel Venture models use. Luckily, that is an easy fix. The shoe was also laced very tightly and required a little bit of loosening to feel comfortable.Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase.
I am very pleasantly surprised. Normally I wear the Nimbus, which has always been a decent shoe. But I decided to try something new, so I went with the Cumulus. This is a great shoe. Cushioning, no break-in time, and fits so well. It is not tight in the forefoot, as some Asic shoes are. The styling and colors are wonderful. On the laces are written the words Tokyo [referring to the Olympics]. I will wear these shoes exclusively for running. Normally I train in the gym on the exercise bike, but during this pandemic, I am back outside running. I'm starting with 3.2 miles and will work up to five miles. I run every other day. So far, so good. I'd buy these shoes again. Fit is so important and these fit true to size.
PROS-----------------Really good running shoes and are a perfect fit for me.Nice flat laces.Very comfortableGood designCONS-----------------"Reinforcement" on the eyelets are only for decoration on the top of the shoe and don't go through the holes. Can be pricey, MSRP is $120 (got on sale for $90)I will see if they hold up longer than my $40 shoes I had for 2 years.
Have worn and ran with these shoes since I have had surgery on the knees and have had no problemsWould mo purchase any other brand or style
This shoe is always comfortable and has a long wear history. Asics makes shoes for running, walking and general wear. They design soles according to pronation and once a person knows and understands their foot pronation, just order new ones as they arrive. The fit never changes. Asics has a pronation guide, I recommend checking it, trying on the shoe prior to buying. If it fits well, stick with the same shoe type and never have to try on shoes again. This shoe is light weight, has a cool feel and look. Top notch for this runner.
I have returned back to ASICS after taking a break from running. Previously wore the older edition and alternated with Saucony triumph. These are great shoes to have in your rotation. They have a great toe box that is between neutral and wide in my opinion. They have great airflow which I find import during the warmer months. The traction is great and should get 300 miles on them +/- terrain and weather. I don’t feel any heel slip when running. Some may complain about shoelace length but I like them how they are. If you like longer laces just pick up a pair when you get these. I also like the color options. No negative comments. If you are looking for more cushion try the gel nimbus.
I’ve been a fan of Asics for years, stray from my fav every once in a while; only to go back to the tried and true. Gel cumulus fit me the best and they’re true to size. My forefoot is wide from years of ballet, so men’s fit better than women’s. During weeks with not much going on, I’ve run 80+ miles and they hold up great and stay comfortable. I would highly recommend these shoes!
From a nurse who stands ~ 6-7 hrs per day.In general I have wide feet. Any many brands run to narrow for me. Found this color way and was tolerable of the design. The shoe is laced tight, but after a few walks in them and a little wiggle of the laces the shoe is comfortable.Inserts are soft and feel gel like to the step. But aren’t cloud soft, so it does give a little support. Compared to your more mainstream brand Nike or adidas, the shoe is very comfortable with notable difference in sole insert comfort.Good shoe would recommend.
