This is my fourth pair of Altras. They fit my feet very well and I’ve never had an issue with quality or how long they’ve lasted.
I am a big fan of these shoes. I love the wide toe box and durability. I would recommend these shoes for runners, people with wider feet, and also those who are on their feet for long periods of time.
Overall this is a very comfortable shoe with a soft upper, excellent cushioning, and unparalleled comfort. The only problem is the poorly designed outsole which could be a no-go for some people.Pros:-Luxurious comfort-Excellent fit-Perfect blend of cushion and what Altra is known for with its wide toe box and zero drop-Fun Styles-Quick ShippingCons:-The only con I have with this shoe is the perforated outsole. (See picture for how it looked after one lap around my block)It is incredibly grippy, but this also makes it very loud when you are running and it picks up and holds onto every pebble, pine needle, and piece of grass you run over. For me this was a deal breaker because I wear my shoes inside and out, and when you bring them inside after that then they scratch floors and leave debris behind. If you only wear them outside, this is the shoe for you. For me, I went with the Altra Torin which I feel had all the same excellent features but with a better designed outsole.
Wonderful support and a great fit.
My mother had this weird phobia about going barefoot. She feared diseases & the appearance of poverty, I suppose. From the time we were toddlers my siblings and I were required to wear shoes. So, my feet are kind of messed up from wearing modern shoes.I’ve never understood why most shoes are not made in the shape of human feet. The toe box of most shoes is rounded or even pointed, resulting in the toes being squished together.I saw these shoes on YouTube. I’m not ready for barefoot, minimalist shoes (if ever), but these shoes are a good transition. Room in the toe box for the toes to spread, no lifted heel, which requires some getting used to. Enough padding for a person who heel strikes while walking. I don’t run so I don’t know how they work for that activity. There’s belief in the fitness community that sneakers are over engineered to correct the problems they actually cause. (Hello, Hoka!) I’m hoping with time, exercises & wearing shoes meant for human feet, I will be able to correct my own foot problems.***Further info re these shoes. I still like them, but they pinch. The toe box is big, but not quite wide enough, unfortunately. I’ve purchased a pair of Fitville shoes, and they work well for my wide, aging feet.
I am an enthusiastic owner of two pairs of Altras - Lone Peak 6, and Provision 5. The Lone Peaks are my best trail hikers, and I use the Provision 5s almost every day for work (I'm a teacher and am on my feet all day). I'm sold on the forefoot width to allow natural foot splay, and the neutral heel, which keeps me more on the balls of my feet.Amazon has a current sale on the Provision 6, which has a few enhancements over the 5, so I picked up a pair to spread the load, so to speak. The Provision 6 is even better than the 5 - it has a touch more sole cushion, and it fits a bit better in the heel. Super good looking shoe as well.I couldn't be happier, highly recommended.
Really liked the shoes but only a few months in and the tread is separating on both shoes. Shoes are not cheap and I should have received a better product for what I spent. Disappointed.
Really comfortable and incredibly light. Being a little heavier than I should be is quite the blessing for a good quality shoe without needing to spend triple the cost. In the tow area, it does appear to be a bit wide while understanding the extra space there’s a bit too much.
