I saw some reviews where people said this didn't keep out water from wet grass - it's hard for me to believe they had the same shoe. The waterproofing is 3L eVent, and I tested this shoe out in a large bowl of water and it kept every drop out, including on the gusset. There are also many reviews where the fabrics wears out in a specific spot where the fabric meets the TPU near the toe. I can see how this could happen, however the fabric seems pretty tough so I suspect the culprit is when it gets really dirty and the dirt wears that location out. I'll be using these almost exclusively in the snow, so hopefully that's not a problem. The shoe fits well, perhaps the toe box isn't quite as wide as older Altras, but luckily it's not narrow. The shoe is notably stiff all over, and not nearly as comfy as the regular Lone Peak, however I wouldn't call it uncomfortable. If it gets a hole, or wears out another way, will update review!Update: this shoe is VERY warm. I can wear regular socks, running in the snow at 25°F, and my feet get sweaty.
These shoes are expertly designed. They are comfortable, just like my other Altra shoes. The wide tie box help prevent my neuroma from flaming up. They are water proof, which is great hiking in wet conditions or dewy mornings around camp. And they look cool. Highly recommend.
Great shoe - good traction, support and room in the toe box.I got this to replace the non-waterproof sister model. They are more similar than different, but the added stiffness of the upper rubs my achiles tendon to the point I need to wear hiking socks with them (even after multiple walks in them). Still a good shoe, the trades you make for the waterproofing are worth bearing in mind though.
These shoes look and feel great. They fit a little snugger in comparison to non water proof ones. Seeing some signs of wear I don’t like but so far so good.
Hiked Arizona and Utah. Very comfortable. Had to send first pair back and get a smaller size than I normally wear. They are holding up very well and look great too!
Besides this particular pair being just a bit snug in the big toe than the last similar pair I owned, the sole feels dangerous.Yes, I said walking on any hard wet surface you will lose some control of footing.Let's be clear. The soles of these shoes has 2 completely different textures. The darker parts in the middle is hard plastic of some kind. Most peeps will not like this when they find out no matter how comfortable they are.... hard soles just like a cheap pair of wingtips will slip.
Bought these for trail hiking on vacation (nothing super steep or strenuous). Worked great. Loved the waterproof feature. Very comfortable. Would buy again.
These LonePeak All-Weather's are the worst Altra's I have ever run across. I don't know what happened... something dramatically changed with Altra's design. I have lost count of how many pairs I own or have owned since learning about the brand, but the Lone Peaks have been a steady presence in the lineup (Along with Superiors, Escalantes, and other Lone Peaks). I think I may have about 5 pairs right now at my house... but I just ordered these Lone Peak All-Weather lows's and they are TERRIBLE. Not the aesthetics or finish... superb as always, but the fit is HORRIBLE. Literally (in the truest sense, not the millennial sense) within 30 seconds of having them on my feet with the laces as wide as I can get them... my feet were starting to hurt because they were so cramped. My feet in them gave that pair of shoes a muffin top. I am seriously at a loss right now. Altra has had EVERYTHING I look for in a shoe and have been with me all around the world... Now, I'm going to have to scrounge for older models to stock up on just so I can have shoes I like that fit like they should. Dang.
