If you’re in search of footwear that seamlessly combines style, safety, and comfort, the Thorogood VGS-300 Series Slip-On Composite Toe Shoes have much to offer. The shoe’s VGS-300 traction outsole is engineered to flex and absorb impact as you move, offering stability during fast-paced work. This feature is crucial for those who often find themselves on their feet for extended periods.
The inclusion of a composite safety toe ensures that your toes are shielded from potential workplace accidents without the added weight of traditional steel toes. This is a significant advantage, especially for laborers such as electricians, carpenters, and warehouse personnel who must navigate tough environments.
Another noteworthy aspect is the removable single-density comfort footbed, which boasts strategic polyurethane cushioning that targets areas most prone to impact. This means you can say goodbye to sore feet at the end of a long shift.
While the Thorogood VGS-300 does come with some limitations—like the possible break-in period and fewer available colors—the overall benefits make this shoe an excellent investment for anyone needing dependable work footwear.

Very nice shoe. Wear at least 14 hours a day. Mixed days of standing on concrete all day to sitting in office all day. Comfortable all around. They do look a little funny as they have a clog look to them but for the comfort I don't care. And once they're scuffed up like a work shoe/boot should be they look fine. I scored these on a warehouse deal for a fraction of the new cost. Well worth it and will keep my eye out for another deal and will buy again. I used bees wax boot conditioner once. I read the wax helps with water resistance but hinders breathing. I used the wax all the time on my Romeo's but the soles wore out within one year. My feet get sweaty so I will try leather conditioner next time and see if ventilation is better.
I don't write many reviews but these shoes deserve it. First thing I noticed is that they were more like sturdy well made work boots and less like a slip on shoe. The soles were heavy and offred good support. The steel toe did not "bite" the top of my foot when I walked. They also fit well and were a bit snug to get on but once on they felt very secure. I own a landscape maintenance company. I would not chose these to work in the field all day because the lack of ankle support, but they would do in a pinch. For walking around and do inspections, and working up quotes they are perfect. They also look nice enough to wear in most casual business type environments. They also need a bit of breaking in, don't expect that soft slipper type fit the first few days. I have had mine for a week now and they feel good.
These are great looking, very comfortable but difficult to get on for the wide foot. Definitely need a long shoe horn.
I guess not every shoe is good for every person. These shoes felt really comfy at first they were a little stiff around my ankle but I figured they would break in. I work 12 hr shifts and do a lot of walking. After a few days my knees started to hurt and my feet were sore around the ankle and also the balls of my feet. I tried a couple different inserts and figured they would break in. The shoes fit great but really are tight at the top and don't seem to be getting better. Finally I had to give up on them and go back to my old safety shoes instantly my knees felt better and feet felt great. Maybe I will try to slowly break them in or different inserts but for now they are not working for me.
These shoes have the worse break in period. The inside portions of the tounges dug into my foot and caused a wound after the first day. This made the shoes painful to wear I had to use blister tape in to relieve the pressure. Poor arch support that required different insoles. These also do not slip on easily and require a shoehorn to keep the heels from getting destroyed. After healing and $50 in extras I wear these everyday and they are great. The fit is very good and while being not easy to slip on at least they stay on snuggly. If these shoes had better insoles and the tounge was redesigned these would be 5 stars.
Thank you Now My Working Days are smother
Great product - light weight, looks as professional as you can for safety shoes, and goes right through an airport metal detector. Fits slightly tight, as you would expect from slip-on safety shoes, but not a problem.
I've had these for a year and a half.Fabric lining in the heel of the shoe wears out fast which changes the fit of the shoe. The lining in the heel really needs to be made from something more durable than thin fabric and some foam. IMHO, it should be leather."special" ESD insole can not be replaced. I've contacted Thorogood about this issue and they essentially told me to just buy a new pair of shoes.
