Dear Mike, I love the shoes, they fit fine. I have worn Thorogood products for many years, especially while a Columbus firefighter from 1987-2008, and still have a pair of boots from that time that I still use.As I said at the beginning, my new shoes fit fine. However, when I put them on, I never made it outdoors. Now the explanation for my photo. By the way, sorry about the pic of my skinny, partially arthritic feet, lol. (You can laugh, people have made fun of my feet for 50 years, lol.) But anyway, if you look at my LEFT big toe, you will see a lump. Many years ago, sometime during my working life, I broke that toe and was never able to bend it again at the “knuckle”. And now, many years later, the bones in that joint have formed that bony lump, and unfortunately that lump rubs against the steel protective toe, and hurts. I’ve thought of asking the orthopedic firm if they would cut my toe open and grind the deposit down, but instead I’ve just put the shoes aside. The shoes were never outside, and I’ve cleaned any dust off from my carpeting, and as such they look as they did when I took them out of the box. However, now that you’ve written to me, I would like to ask if I returned them, could I please exchange them for a pair of the same style, but non steel toed shoes?I hope no one is offended by the pic, hopefully just amusingly aghast, lol, but I figure the best way to explain my plight was to give complete details. Thanks for bearing with me. I do highly recommend Thorogood products, and the shoes fit fine in that size and they did arrive quickly after I placed my order, and I would recommend your company based on my experience.Best of luck with your business, and I also am a veteran, 1968-1974, USAF, during the Vietnam conflict.Thanks.Chuck Machuga
looks great, very comfortable, just wish the Insoles were good, had to buy new Insoles.
I like that tge sole is quiet. Not hard and clunky like some other brands. Fit is a little bigger than some, but I think thats necessary with a steel toe.
I don't know if they think people don't have big toes or if they ran out of size 15 steel and threw size 14 in there. You could actually see the show shrink down when it got to the steel. Thought maybe I just needed to break them in. Wore bandages and tape on my big toes for 2 months. (I'm stubborn) Finally gave up. This is the worst pair of steel toes I have ever purchased. Unfortunately it is getting harder and harder to find steel toe dress shoes. Giving it 1 star because I don't think I can give it zero stars.
This shoes are good quality the leather looks good and comfortable
I can't speak of the durability because they are brand new but appear to be very well built. They are the most comfortable shoes I have worn in years. Being diabetic and needing orthotics it is difficult finding shoes that have room for the orthotic and don't squeeze to much causing pain. Thorogood are my shoe of choice from now on. I do wish I could get them without the steel toe though.
The is a seam at the base of the tongue that goes from side to side over the back of the midfoot. Even in the wide width size 13s I wear, this bridge seam is *super* low and narrow, and is frankly painful to have the shoe on for 30 seconds, much less walking. The rest of the fit, however, is perfect: right length, plenty of toe room and forefoot width. Just this one simple area that is sufficiently bad as to make the rest of the shoe unuseable, for me at least. I suppose if you have extremely low flat feet, perhaps collapsed arches, this might be the shoe for you. Don't get me wrong, the overall quality seems very very good. I really wish these had an extra 1-2cm built into that one particular seam, as I think they'd work well and last well....if they fit right. But, sadly, they don't and they're going back. I hope the company actually reads feedback like this and tweaks the design a little, as I think they'd have a much larger customer pool if they did, and I'd gladly buy a pair of these that didn't have this single glaring design flaw.
