I am extremely pleased with my purchase. I am replacing a pair of Allen Edmonds Dress boots, and was concerned about the quality and fit. I am glad to say these are perfect. The color and finish is great. Fit is excellent, I normally were a 9 B these are a 9 Medium and are perfect. I did change the laces to a lighter brown than what and with boots , just a personal preference. I also cleaned and conditioned the boots properly before wearing them as recommended too me to help with creasing when breaking in new shoes. The kidskin leather, is very soft and extremely comfortable. I am already looking at another pair. Especially considering the cost is a 1/3 of what of what I normally pay for shoes..
Dress shoes
I Love this sophisticated men’s dress boot. Looks very trendy with a floral dress. Most women’s dress boots have too high of a heel for me, and women’s combat-style boots are too clunky looking for my taste. I wear a women’s size 8.5 and my feet are somewhat narrow to medium width. The men’s size 6.5 fit perfectly.
I just received this pair of boots (delivered to the door as promised), only one word comes to mind...WOW. I bought two pair of these (before the price increased) and at $98.00, the boots were an incredible price. The black ones are extermely stylish and I was a bit skeptical of how the brown ones would look...in a word...WOW...I am extremely pleased with the style, the workmanship and the sizing of the boot. Having read on this site they tend to run bit narrow, I ordered a size 14 and I'm glad I did, not so much for the narrowness but for a bit more room in the toe box. These boots are a must for any collection and for those having a shoe size above a size 12, these shoes some how tend to make the foot look smaller, whether it is the cap toe with the antique styling or the narrowness, I'm not sure, but the boot is definitely a keeper...just love em...I can already tell the brown ones will be my favorite of the two.
I own the black, brown, and white of the Madison boot, so I'm obviously a fan. The slim profile, plus real leather sole really makes these sharp for many occasions. You can wear them with a suit or jeans, they're just a great staple to a refined guy's wardrobe. Some notes, though...they are on the narrow side, and right out of the box are pretty stiff. The leather is a very specific feel - not quite patent leather, but semi-shiny, thin, and rigid. They do break in nicely after a while, but if you've never worn them, just know that it'll take some time. Also, the sole is initially very slippery on smooth surfaces, so you may want to take a stroll on some asphalt to give them a little grit. Another issue I've faced in all three pairs I've purchased is that the laces are never quite as long as I'd like them to be. There are A LOT of eyelets and hooks on these, and if you wanna go all the way you're gonna have to really fight to tie a bow. To the best of my knowledge Stacy Adams does not sell separate replacement laces, so you may have to look elsewhere if this is an issue. Definitely recommend ordering your dress shoe size, which is typically a size down from a sneaker size. I'm a 10 in these, but an 11.5 in most athletic sneakers (Nike, NB, Vans, etc.) and a 10.5 in Converse All Stars, if that helps. Overall, I do love these shoes. They're understated, versatile, handsome, and timeless. But they could be improved IMO.
Comfortable
The shoes are nice shoes, but I definitely had to send back my size 14 order (size 14 is my usual shoe size) to get a size 13 instead. However the shoe fits nice in terms of width, and the quality of the shoe in general is great. Definitely worth the cost, and will look amazing with any black, gray, or dark blue suit.
These boots were a major disappointment! I returned them with a vehemence. I restore, patina, and shine men’s dress shoes and boots as a hobby. Never have I come across a product as cheap as these boots on Amazon or from Stacy Adams. I’ll tell you what I learned from examination: The thickness of the leather was immediately apparent. It was about the thickness of 3 credit cards, and I only took a few steps in one boot before questioning if it might fall apart before I could return it. I wouldn’t trust these boots on a trail or on the sidewalk. They’re flimsy and feel like a sheet of fabric around the feet. The quality of the leather was a joke. It looked cheap and was indeed cheap. There was a coating of schlock on the surface of the leather. I tested for absorption using conditioner which just sat on the surface, meaning the leather would never breathe, it was waterproof/conditioner-proof, and there was absolutely no maintenance that could be done on them. They could not be conditioned or polished unless acetone was used - even then the leather is so thin that the pores are too shallow to hold a thing. The stitches were cheap and lengthy (less stitches to keep the leather and lining together). The upper leather and lining were poorly stitched together. A lot of the shoe was glued. A cap toe should not be glued. The laces were cheap. The insoles ended half way, leaving half the inner exposed and surely uncomfortable to stand on for long periods of time. The only positive is the outsole looked nice and fairly sturdy. I don’t understand why the outsole would be Goodyear welted but the entire upper of the boot so cheaply made. These make for better Christmas ornaments than footwear.
