After trying many brands of shoes recommended for support and comfort, I bought a pair of SAS shoes from a shoe store that was going out of business. They were a perfect match for my comfort and arch support needs. Sadly, there were no other shoe stores in my city selling SAS shoes. Since then, I've bought several pairs of SAS shoes from Amazon. Here's what I've learned about SAS shoes - (1) sizing is extraordinarily consistent (2) every pair of SAS shoes I've bought has given me pain free knees and hips which is not true of any other brand I've tried (3) they're not cheap, but they are a great investment in my health and enjoyment of life. If you're experiencing knee or hip pain, it's definitely worth a try.
Fit right out of the box. Feels good all day long. I have hard-to-fit feet. I was a ballerina when younger and my feet are WIDE at the ball of my foot. I got the 9 Extra Wide and they are perfect. The soft leather and the wide toe box make this shoe a comfy fit for me. I tried Free Time, a stiffer leather SAS shoe, [in roughly the same style] but they didn't work for me at all. Take Time is well worth the price. I treated them with water repellent and we're good to go!
I have medium width feet. I’ve never worn anything outside of regular width shoes. However, I saw the reviews that these were super narrow AND I saw that the double wide size was on “super sale” for $56 so I gave it a shot. They fit perfectly. The “double wides” are only as wide as a regular shoe.Aside from this issue, they’re moderately comfortable but I wouldn’t call them a confit shoe. There is almost no cushion in the balls of the feet. The pair I received seems to have been previously returned. The tissue in the box was all ripped up and there were some wear marks inside the shoes.
I bought these for work, because I assumed they were the identical SAS shoes I had bought from bricks-and-mortar stores many times in the past. Those SAS were always comfortable and durable. I could buy them without trying them on. They included an extra pair of shoelaces, at the request of customers whose beloved shoes outlasted their original shoelaces. Those shoes were too durable, perhaps. SAS had changed since the last time I purchased shoes, and I didn't even know it. The quality and design of this style has been radically changed. The molded soles of these shoes do not provide the arch support of the old ones. The plastic of the sole is cut away right under the arch. The sole is flat and there's just a foam insole inserted inside that's supposed to support one's entire weight. The shoes force my weight onto my metatarsophalangeal joints and cause foot pain in just a few blocks of walking.I could tell immediately that they were not what I expected, but unfortunately I have wide feet and have very few choices available to me. I'm trying to find some other type of insert that will allow me to actually use these. Hopefully I find something before the old shoes are completely worn out, because I really avoid wearing the new pair right now.
It's a little pricey but worth it!
This pair replaced an identical pair I'd bought years ago and used daily. Looks small but feels so comfortable. I remove the insert and put Dr. Schol's plantar fasciitis insert. But it's very comfy in the toe box and the arch and the heel. I'll buy another pair in a few years. Hope they don't stop making them.
Width is good but thought I'd have better cushioning under the balls of my feet. My feet are still sore.
I really like the shoe, I had tired several types of shoes and when I finally purchased them I wished I had purchased them earlier, my lower back and legs used to hurt all the time but I find I can wear these shoes all day and at the end of the day I can still walk and my lower back does not hurt, I would recommend these and give them a 5 star and I plan to purchase more shoes in the future. Worth the money
