This is me: A hardworking guy that's been cut off from replacement boots by nearly every modern boot company- true story. I've paid for very expensive, mid tier and even some low priced boots; and none have held up like these Rocky SV2.I've waited years to post this review. I'll put pictures of the maltreated pair complete with paint splatter. I've had to replace the insole multiple times over the years. These boots have worked in the heat of Florida, cold of the Midwest and points between. Have worn them over 24 hours straight on concrete floors many times. Have ran, hiked, weight lifted, worked from footings to rooftop ridges and these are always ready. They have aged, there's separation at the leather and sides of the sole where they attach, yet it's cosmetic and they still have their integrity.I've read other reviews and this is my experience, your mileage may vary and maybe I just got a special pair. The only boots that ever came close were the original Herman Survivors made in Poland nearly 2-decades ago and a pair of Matterhorns.I'd love to have had goretex, but again for how they're made, they performed the best.If you purchase a pair I hope that you have a similar experience. Please work safe, efficiently, enjoy the process and God Bless.
I bought these boots for my 17 year-old son 7 months ago. As a frequent Amazon buyer I can say I still get intimated by purchases such as this where the price point is high and the selection and features of the item are many. I was nervous spending this much money on boots, online.Let me tell you, this was a SUPER purchase!!My son wore these from day one, really with no break-in period. He started wearing them everyday to school and throughout the evening. He's working for a construction/remodeling company for the summer where he could choose to wear tennis shoes instead of these boots, and he chooses the boots. He raves about their comfort. In 7 months we've had not one flaw or malfunction with these boots. Soles and uppers are still in great condition. My son is a very active kid and has put these boots through a lot of tough use. They seem to repel stains well and are extremely well constructed. If/when the time comes we will get him another pair.Last week my husband decided to get a pair for himself so we ordered a pair for him too. I'm very happy these boots are made in the USA!! My only complaint is in the 7 months since we purchased my son's pair the price has gone up $50!!! This may be seasonal since we bought one pair in the winter and the other in summer. Either way, we were so pleased with the quality and comfort of these boots that we paid it.
Overall this product was well described, fit my needs, and held up well. I purchased these as an edition to my footwear for an army field exercise. After wearing them for a month in the field I noticed some minor fraying around the stitching from the sole on the inside of the foot. This is the only reason for a 4 star review. If not for the poor stitching this would be a well deserved 5of5. I purchased the boots and started wearing them two days later. There was no real break in period. I wore standard black boots sock. They did not rub or leave hot spots on my feet. I did not get blisters and my feet stayed moderately dry for a guy that usually has hot feet. The tread is wonderful on this product and I can see them lasting much longer. If I have to purchase another boot this will be my go to.
Worn daily for work and military and they have lasted me 3 years. Only reason I purchased a new pair was for a hunting trip as the old pair still has a little life left in them.
These boots are by far the best boots I have ever owned. I cannot stress enough the quality of the US craftsmanship. Made in the USA! They have superb ankle support and fit like a glove. They are very true to size. The tongue has high abrasive material on it for long lasting abrasion resistance towards every day lacing of the boot. Lace up is smooth, fast and almost effortless. The stitching is also very solid. The sole is very rugged & sturdy, but yet very flexible & stealthy at the same time. I know a lot of attention to detail has gone into making this boot. A lot of military input, especially from spec ops and seals. Oh and not to forget how comfortable they are. Will be buying a second pair in case they discontinue this version. Worth every penny @ $220, but found a great deal @ papashoe.com for $186. Keep in mind that there are different versions of the S2V and that these are the military duty boots.Well done Rocky!
I used to wear Nike's boots. I would prefer a lighter boot that didn't require much breaking in. I bought these because my old boots were out of regs. I had a difficult time finding a pair of Danners my size. It's like none were available. I had these boots recommended to me and they are fantastic. Very durable, water resistant. They did feel a little tight the first day but it really only took one or two days to break in fully. Had them for a week so far and they are comfortable. They are not heavy. Also what is great about this boot and my favorite feature is that it has an amazing tread. Has a very good grip. One negative is that I bought these in the summer and they are fairly warm. But still worth it. Best boots I've bought.
