When it comes to work shoes, comfort and safety are paramount. The New Balance 589 V1 excels in both areas. The non-slip outsole is a standout feature, providing reliable traction across different surfaces that can often be slippery or uneven. Whether you're walking on concrete floors or navigating outdoor terrains, this shoe keeps you stable.
The composite toe cap is another highlight, meeting critical safety standards to protect your toes from impacts and compressions. This makes it suitable for various industrial settings where such hazards are prevalent. Moreover, its electrical hazard features help mitigate risks associated with live wires or appliances.
Comfort is further enhanced by the lightweight REVlite midsole, which cushions your steps without weighing you down. Users have noted that even after hours of wear, their feet feel less fatigued compared to other heavier work shoes.
In terms of aesthetics, they look good enough to wear outside of work—running errands or casual outings. However, potential buyers should note that those with narrower feet might find the fit a bit loose. Also, although the shoe comes in a stylish gray/pink colorway, some may desire additional color choices.

There are limited options out there for composite toe shoes for women. The first brand (different company) I purchased online turned out to be an absolute waste; they said it was a women's shoe but after I received it, the sham company thought that if you just give women a shorter shoe that it will fit them. Needless to say, my narrow heel slipped all over the place and I was ticked at being scammed. Unfortunately, because there are so few women's options for composite out there, I wasn't able to just walk into a brick and mortar store to try on shoes like I normally would.Fortunately I found New Balance! This is a sturdy, well-built shoe. My first pair eventually wore out, and I recently purchased a second pair of the exact same shoe. If you're unsure of your size, go to a brick and mortar and try on any New Balance shoe there. The size in one of their regular shoes will translate to this composite toe... at least it did for me.
I wear a size 7 regular and sometimes a 7W shoe. When I ordered these, based on similar composite work shoes I went with the wide selection. They are much too large for me, so I returned them and went down a whole size to a 6W. These are still a bit loose, but using a shoe insole ( needed anyway) they make the fit much better. The toe box is really roomy, and you don't notice the composite toe and I find that to shoe will bend at it's natural spot near the toe when necessary. Some safety shoes are very stiff in this area, so I was very pleased. Overall, these work shoes are my favorite. I can be on my feet 12 hrs, and feel as though I am wearing my favorite sneakers. You will need to purchase a shoe insole, because they are not as cushioned as a running shoe would be. But that is a minor detail, for someone who is on their feet 10-12hrs per shift these make me very happy I bought them, and they seem very well built.
The shoes felt good when I first wore them. But at the end of my shift at work my feet were hurting so bad
These are very well made but seem to run a bit big. I find them to be a little heavy. All in all they get the job done
I originally bought a 6 wide because it stated the shoes run large. But they were too small. Sent them back and ordered a 6.5 regular which is my normal size. They fit length wise but are too tight around my toes. Stuck with them since I had no other option for work. Currently looking for something more comfortable. I would say start with your size and adjust from there. If I would have ordered a 6.5, I would have realized I needed it in a wide.Good luck
First day of wearing these to work, I have had many issues with my feet, but these have been comfortable all night long.
Best I can guess, these are measured in men's sizes, not women's. I ordered in my normal size and they were easily two and a half sizes too big. There is no cushion or arch support to be had, was like standing bare foot on concrete. The toe cavity is HUGE compared to other new balance industrial shoes, yet the section where the laces are is very narrow. And they are very heavy compared to other industrial shoes. Most annoying part is not having a pull strap at the back, and the back folds in when trying to put them on. Almost needed a shoe horn to get them on. They seem pretty sturdy despite all the other shortcomings, so it gets two stars.
Good quality
