Great Waterproof X-large shoes

My husband's favorite shoes because they come in a soft nubby leather in 6X - and are waterproof. He says they are really waterproof and very comfortable - and go well with the black jeans he wears almost exclusively. However it looks like Dunham may be retiring this model. Hope they come up with something similar if so.

dunham 8000 W/P oxford

I am on my third pair of these shoes, and I am about to order another pair.they will not quit I still wear my original pair in the gerden after 5 years of thrashing. last year I spent 8 weeks walking in russia and the baltic states , I walked hundred of Ks and I took only one pair of shoes no back up. People did not beleave me . I have just spent a month in the Northern part of Australia rough and ruggared I only went in the Dunhams. They clean up and can be worn in a semi casual (like flying on the plane or going out to dinner) or harshest treatment sloshing in wet weather and mud the sole is amazing. Back in New Zealand these shoes are a god send . I don't wear running shoes any more. I brought a pair of the chuckas but they have a different sole it is much softer and does not wear as well . The 8000 are a little stiff to start but soon break in you can wear them through wet grass and water with out getting wet. being a little stiff gives good foot surport. Its a quality product like they used to make years ago you will not be sorry if you buy them . lastly I generaly do not do reviews , but feel I am forced to pass on this imformation to other users. I can not buy these shoes in NZ so get them through Amozon.. I have found that after a lot of wear they exhibit wear behind the heel area at the top by the archillies this could be years down the track I just put some adhesive tape there and that seemed to do the trick.Older shoes are relegated to painting or garden jobs . My 5 year olds are now fit for the bin. But seeing I am about to re order I will biff them. I should send them back to Dunhams research dept however I guess they have heaps of them.

Perfect Balance of Style and Comfort

I've been wearing these shoes for two years now and even after all that time they are still some of the best wearing shoes I've ever had. They're wonderfully comfortable, fit well, and provide ample toe room. The best part as that they my look like a dress shoe but they wear like a sneaker or a walking shoe. You could be on your feet all day long and still feel good in these shoes. I love the style and versatility of the shoe as well. They look great in anything from business casual to everyday casual. I really can't recommend these enough.

Great if you’re on your feet a lot

Great pair of shoes if you’re on your feet a lot. Durable and comfortable. The only drawback are the laces. They loosen up and untie. I had to buy a pair of flat laces.

hard on the outside, soft on the inside.

Comfortable and fits as expected, looks great and hardly notice how stiff the leather is. My only fuss (not even a complaint!) Would be the stiffness of the outside leather, but even with as hard as the leather is, theyre still comfortable and great to wear just about anywhere.

The jury's still out...

I re-ordered two new pairs of this shoe, going up a size from what I'd worn in other shoes for years (had to move up to an 11 2E from a usual of 10 EE). So far, so...well, we'll see.The Good:* VERY orthotics friendly. Plenty of room after replacing the removable factory insole with my custom arch supports.* Comfortable fit; a bit stiff at first, but good after a short break-in period. Not too loose or too tight, my bugaboo about the inaccurate sizing aside.* Good style* Good waterproofingThe Bad:* Slip resistance is pathetic. C'mon guys, these are marketed as waterproof shoes. Your feet stay dry in the rain, but on wet pebble-aggregate pavement or a tile floor when coming out of the rain it's nearly like walking on glare ice. This is a running gripe I have about casual shoes, but I work in downtown Seattle, so 'nuff said.* The SQUEAKING! For some reason, the right shoe of BOTH of my new pairs of 8000's squeak when I walk in them. The brown pair, not too terrible. The black pair...well, it sounds similar to Donald Duck being kicked in the crotch. My recent purchases of three pairs of Dunham shoes is frankly a crapshoot. Several years back I purchased a pair of Dunham hiking shoes that wound up being worn in very light-duty conditions (I work in an office)...nonetheless, the soles started delaminating within 6 months, and eventually shed from the uppers entirely in about a year. If anything like that happens again, I'll revise my Amazon reviews of my Dunham purchases.

Love these - so far!

I was a big fan of Rockport for many years - it's all I wore. My most recent pair was finally getting too old (after - dunno, 8-10 years?!) and I sent away for new ones. I don't know what they have done in the interim, but as soon as I put them on they just felt awful. Nothing like what I had come to expect from them. So I did some research online for narrow men's shoes (Rockport offered that option) and came up with these Windsors, which had some terrific reviews. Well, from the moment I put THESE on, they felt perfect. Besides the fit, they also felt so much sturdier of a shoe - actually made my old Rockports feel more like slippers. I haven't spent any real quality time walking in them yet, but from what I can tell so far they are just great.
