I am in love with the look and quality. Yes they are tough to break in but I will keep at it and wear them until they soften. They fit my personality as a petite person who is also strong and practical.
I've worn Doc Martens on and off for many years. They all have a few characteristics: breaking them in is serious business, they are a bit heavy, and they have no arch support whatsoever. On the plus side they last a very long time, look good the whole time, and have superb grip. The 1461 is one of the most classic and nice looking models they have. I wear mine with slacks and dress shirts to work. I've had a few pair in brown that I used to wear with Khaki pants and I had a shiny black one I wore as a missionary. I pretty much know what I'm going to get with a Doc Martens 1461.This version one is the best I've used. The leather is on the waxy side (don't try and polish it...use dubbin instead and maybe leather dye) and softer than some other models. Of all the Doc Martens shoes I have owned these were the easiest to break in. The fit and finish is equal to or better than other 1461's I've seen. They lined the inside with smooth black leather instead of rough leather or brown leather. Nice feature. And the sole is dark enough that it doesn't distract. I wish I had that on the shiny black pair I wore as a missionary.This model still features the brilliant yellow stitching, which is a Doc Marten fixture. They do have some models that use black stitching instead, which I would have preferred, but this shoe is better in every other way than the shoes I'm used to from Doc Martens.I have heard people say that Doc Martens quality has fallen off in recent years as they have outsourced their manufacturing to east Asia. I don't see that being the case. If anything, the fit, finish, and materials of this shoe are superior to other models I have used (my first pair was in 1999, I think). The price of these shoes is about half what I have paid in the past after accounting for inflation. Based on that I'd say Doc Martens are becoming vastly cheaper while maintaining their quality. With a decent insole that provides some arch support, this can be a great all-day every-day wear shoe.

The style is cute and the shoes are probably well made. Like all a shoes from this brand if you like a heavy, stiff shoe and wear a narrow or medium width in an even size you might find a pair that fits. Do not buy this shoe unless you want pain in your feet otherwise.
