I really love these boots. My first pair of hikers in over 20 years and they will take some getting use to for me. Not because of the boots but because I am knock kneed and I tend to walk on the side of my feet which has caused me a great deal of problems over the years including now plantar fasciitis ugh lol. I do like the fact that these almost force me to hold my feet correctly just by the way they are constructed and i seem to walk better. They felt heavy when i first picked them up and that got me nervous because I thought they would be to heavy while wearing them but I was pleased to realize that's not the case at all. I feel only a slight difference between these and the shoes I have been wearing. These hikers seem very well made with amazing traction and sturdy. I wear a 6.5 and that is what i ordered. They seem a bit big but with winter coming soon and heavier socks i don't think that will be an issue. The insoles seem nice and fit my foot well which I like because I have a very hard time finding shoes or boots that support my high arches. My only complaint is of course the plantar fasciitis situation. The insoles don't help much with that so far. I admit though much better than what I've been using. I got a pair of Dr. Scholls insoles made specifically for plantar fasciitis and they caused the hikers to be to tight around the top of my foot. So I am not going to be able to use them unless I take out the insoles that came with the boots. Which I probably should anyway but i like the extra cushioning lol. The other complaint I guess would be nothing to do with the hikers but the shipping. It took I believe 2 weeks to receive the hikers with the shipping date being changed 3 times! I almost canceled the order. But all in all I'm glad I didn't. I will update if I remember lol to tell how they have held up and or if I have been able to wear them with my stupid issues.
I like these BOOTS! Listen up! I ordered the 8 1/2 that I usually wear, it was a tad big, I returned them and got the 8’s instead and it fits PERFECT! I read the reviews and they said to get the 1/2 size smaller, I didn’t believe it until I took the 8 1/2 home and realized I had to take them back to get the 8 , hope that helps!UPDATE! This is my second pair I have bought, Its been almost a year, and I wear these boots almost everyday. I notice the the first pair of boots I purchase last year , the insoles are sinking down and its not as comfortable and I would have to buy some added soles to make my foot feel better, be prepared for that, the second pair I just bought feels good for now unit months later I would have to buy extra insoles for more comfort, I will not be buying anymore, I just switch the boots back and forth for now, its always good to switch up shoes every now and then...
These boots are very cushy and comfortable but run large. I always wear an 8.5 but usually like a wide width. I ordered a 9 and an 8.5. Tried on the 8.5 and they felt good...returned the 9. After wearing the 8.5 around the house for a while, I realized they were big too. I ordered a size 8 and returned the 8.5. These are much better but I still think they are a tad big. But I'm tired of returning so I'm keeping them. These boots are also a bit masculine, makes me wonder if I received men's by mistake. But it's very hard to find a woman's safety toe that I like and are comfortable. Note: This is my 2nd day wearing size 8 so I can't speak for how they hold up. I'll keep you posted.
I really like these work boots very light weight .I put a better insole in them and it made them even more comfortable
The composite toe started to separate from the rest of the boot the first time I wore these. They are otherwise comfortable, supportive, and super waterproof so this was pretty disappointing.
Why perfect? No break in time needed. Wore them to work immediately. Comfortable with stability for walking and kneeling at construction sites. Love the covered toe. Design keeps dirt from getting into my feet. Flattering style with reliable tread for hot or cold, wet conditions. I will purchase a second pair to wear in the future. Sizing down a half size worked for me. Thank you Carhartt!
The reviews suggested going down a half-size. I should have ignored them. The shoes were too small. I usually go up a half size with sneakers, so I should have stayed with my regular size with these. My advice: if you also go up a half size larger for running/walking shoes, stay with the size you buy for everyday shoes. They also had a sour milk smell that might have been the rubber soles, but it was nasty. They are a nice weight though.
Edit: It’s been more than a year and a half and wanted to update with new photos and review. I wear these consistently up to 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and have held up perfectly and are still comfortable. So far, they are really comfortable. I love how lightweight they are in comparison to traditional work books, and they don’t seem nearly as big. They also have great arch support, something you don’t always get in a work boot. I did buy a 1/2 size smaller as per review recommendations, and they were still roomy.
