First, I actually selected the men’s 8.5 dress oxfords and was surprised to receive a woman’s size 8.5. So, that was a problem. Luckily, my field of employment makes finding a needy recipient pretty easy. As for the shoe, you can never beat bates quality and comfort. I would suggest the oxfords for class A’s and the original enforcers side zip for everyday or BDU’s. Love me some bates.
I ordered these Bates Men's Sentry Oxford High Shine is a half size larger than my son usually wears as I was hoping I could get more use out of them then the immediate funeral we were attending. Unfortunately though these did not work out at all.My son usually wears wides so I got these in wides, not the xtra wide. But if you have even slightly wide feet I would suggest getting these in extra wide. The wides were not wide at all and were basically the same size as regular width shoes. I can’t even imagine what the regular width is if these are wide! They also run small so you definitely need to size up a full size.While the quality of these is very good and they used quality materials and construction was also well done, none of it matters if they don’t fit! And unfortunately that’s exactly what happened in my case! Plus they don’t even have the size I need now so there’s no way to exchange them unfortunately.
These are great shoes. My son has owned a few pair of shiny Bates dress shoes and has always liked them for his dress shoes. Unfortunately, these ran a little small for him so he wasn't able to get a lot of wear out of them. He says they felt comfortable and he liked the style of them.
I ordered these shoes for my husband in his usual size 9. As soon as they arrived and we took them out of the box we thought they looked very small, and they were in fact so small that my husband couldn’t even put them on. I checked the box to see if we were shipped a wrong size, and what do I see? Size 9 but women size 9, not men.The shoes are made of real leather and the outer soles appear to have good traction. The stitching is nicely done and the overall workmanship looks very good. My husband thinks that he would have liked these shoes if he received mens 9 as ordered but since he can’t evaluate fit, comfort, and actual performance he’s giving them 3 stars.
Boots are fine overall but I wasn't able to try them, they are way too narrow. For my kid I usually take 6.5, so I decided 7 should work. However we were not able to put them on, so returned.
