Anthony Veer Men's Ford Wingtip Brogue, Lace-up, Full Grain, Leather Shoes Review

Very nice shoes. I've had them for a couple of weeks now, and wear dress clothes to work in. I bought a pair of the Clinton cap to oxfords at the same time and alternate between the two. These were very stiff out of the box, but after a few days have broken in nicely. They are extremely comfortable and look great too. I wear an 11E, but had to get a 10E in these. Take note of the warning in the description, they run quite large. The manufacturer was quick to respond to an email regarding polish recommendations.I like that they come with shoe trees and shoe horn. This gives the user very little excuse not to take good care! They also come with extra laces and insoles, indicating that the manufacturer expects them to last a long time. I don't doubt it. The shoe bags are a nice touch too, though I haven't used them yet.I would prefer that the shoe trees were wood, and better fitting, as this would make the shoes easier to polish. The shoe trees are plastic and metal, with only a form for the toe.

I typically wear Allen Edmonds shoes and this is a review in comparison but really shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence given these are $150 pair of shoes compared to $400 shoes. So this is probably not a fair comparison. I decided to give these a try based on the other reviews and that they look pretty decent.The biggest issue that I have with the shoe is the fit. I typically wear a snug 9.5 D and some other reviewers have mentioned that these seem to run a bit large. The statistics indicated a 70% fit, so I gave 9.5 a shot. The problem that I have here is that I had to wear them for a while to really get a feel for if they fit well or not. Right out of the box, everything felt ok, but it wasn't until a couple wears afterwards that I confirmed that these were running large.Heel impact is very pronounced. I'm not sure if this is due to the size difference or not, but it just hits heavy at the heel area when walking.I would say that the leather quality and comfort is what you would expect from this price point of shoe, so while this isn't ideal for me, its mostly what you would expect from a shoe at this price point. For example, the leather is super stiff and after 4 wears is still on the stiff side. Also, there seems to be a defect on my left shoe where the leather on the cap toe is more rough than the leather on the right cap toe. This is noticeable after you condition the shoe and apply polish.The customer service is great. I have nothing but good things to say about the promptness of the service and the communication. They really pay attention to their customers and want to make it right so I give this manufacturer a ton of credit for making things right.

I'll start off with the unboxing of my shoes. The way they were packaged was top notch as they were separately wrapped in tissue and you received individual shoe bags and shoehorn. I inspected the shoes closely as there was one or two post criticizing the quality of the leather and they appeared to be in perfect condition. It only took a day to break them in and it was slightly painful but no blisters. Shoes come with insoles that you put in yourself and after the first six hours of wearing them, they began to squeak. When I got home, I put talcum powder under the insoles and the next day the sqeaking was gone. I did have to relace the shoes because their "straight bar lacing" had the lace crisscrossing underneath which was uncomfortable. After using the correct straight bar lace method , they fit perfect. I will buy more AV shoes in the near future.

Update: More covered up flaws.Returned the first pair that had multiple flaws. Ordered a second identical pair. Same “Walnut “ color that to me seems closer to dark mustard yellow. After inspection the only flaw I saw immediately is the pinking and stitching on the toe caps is slightly crooked but not so much to be obvious. I wasn’t really digging the color so I decided to put on some Venetian leather balm on them to help darken the leather a bit. Once I started rubbing the balm into the leather, that’s when another covered up flaw came to light. The balm removed some of the repair that was done to cover up a color flaw or burnished spot on the leather. Since I put some conditioner on them I can’t return them, so I guess I’ll live with it since it’s on the inside of the right shoe and very close to the sole and shouldn’t be noticeable. Maybe I’ll hit them with some Obenauf’s leather oil to really darken them so the flaw doesn’t show as much. I won’t be buying this brand again.Original review:I was looking for a more affordable alternative to the $400 AE models so I thought I would give these a try. Impressive packaging and all the extras are a nice touch. I ordered these in a 13D and the fit was perfect after I added the included foam insert. The shoes are a lighter color than expected; more of a yellow tone. I ordered the walnut color. There are several flaws on the shoes. Multiple spots around the edge where the upper meets the sole look like leather was gouged and then repaired. The heel has obvious ripples in the leather. I’m returning this pair and ordering another since I do like the fit and semi-brogue style. Hopefully the new pair has better quality. If not, then I’m not sure I’ll return to this brand.

I bought these for my husband. The shoes are very well made and of a very good quality leather.After walking around in the apartment for a while, he said they were very comfortable.He would whole heartedly recommend this elegant shoe for purchase. A very nice touch was thenice shoehorn that came with it for free.

This shoe looks great and wears like a good fit. Great color.

These are very British styled dress shoes, very stiff and thick. They are Goodyear welted but have low quality painted leather uppers. Don’t waste your money unless you want the suede ones.
