I needed a more formal boot than my 5.11 Combat Specials and I heard good reviews of Allen Edmonds online so I tried them out. Very grateful for the hassle free return policy on Amazon because if you don't get measured for dress boots at an AE store you may need to order several different sizes.I wear 9.5 wide or 10 D in all my regular boots and sneakers. The Chilli colored 10D AE boots were comically long and way too tight. I ended up with an 8.5XX wide and after wearing for an hour the set fit perfectly.The boots were flawless even though I got them for one of the lowest listed prices here. I clicked an hour later and the 8.5XXW were back to $430. Weird.But a great boot, just watch the sizing - they run long and tight.
These retail for $425 on the Allen Edmonds website.Got a size 13D for $190+ tax. Was concerned they would be factory seconds but shoes looked almost perfect.Only imperfection is on the Rubber sole, it appeared to be slightly off centered so one of the divots had stitching in it.Ordered the exact same pair off Allen Edmonds for $331 and they had the same rubber sole stitching issue PLUS the tan finish was uneven.So the Amazon shoes were actually better craftsmanship and $235 cheaper. What a steal!Unfortunately size D was too tight on both pairs. Normally I’d recommend getting sized at an Allen Edmonds store but there are none within 2 hours. So I have size E (wide) coming and will see if they fit better.Will also update review once I’ve had a chance to break them in.Final note is these are weather proof. In comparing them to another pair of non-weather proof shoes, the Walnut color was the exact same.I was concerned the weather proof walnut would be darker, but that wasn’t the case.

As expected, the shoe is well-built and looks great. What is somewhat disappointing is that the right shoe on my order is not evenly colored between sections, while the left shoe is fine. The color I received is more of a chocolate brown, and not the deeper, richer reddish brown in the picture. Polishing the lighter sections with black polish helped even out the color difference. Also, since I have large calves, the ankle collar creates some discomfort around my achilles tendon, and time will tell if it’s something I will get used to, or will cause pain and irritation on long days.
Just the boot I was wanting.Excellent product.
