They are extremely narrow and very very long. I normally wear a 9.5 in Nike for comparison. I got an 8 wide and they fit properly. Definitely go a full size down at least and go for a wide even if you have normal width feet. I paid $68 for them. Which is an absolute STEAL.
They look great and they feel even better. You will not regret this purchase. The more you wear them, the more comfortable they get and they started out comfortable.
I read other reviews and saw people talking about the shoes running way to big and having issues with blisters from the stitching/edge in the heal. Well they were right. At least for the xWide shoes I ordered. I had to exchange for a half size smaller, and now even the left one is still a little to large, which exasperates the issue with the heal stitching. There is an edge where the cushioning is stitched in and it rubs and creates a blister because the left shoe is still slightly to big. I tried to tape over it with duct tape, it made the slipping worse. So I got insert cushions on Amazon to cover the edge and size issue and it solved the problems.I’d give it a lower rating but the quality and look of the shoes are so good I decided to still give it a 4 star rating.
On the outside casual/dressy sneaker. On the inside it's built like and feels like a dress shoe. It is much heavier than a typical running/training shoe, heavier than my AE dress shoes, but that doesn't affect day-to-day performance. Good quality leather. It's a sturdy shoe, but don't take it to the tennis court. Would recommend.
I have been wearing these with shorts and have bought the matching belt from AE. I usually compare prices between the store and Amazon. I got these for cheaper on Amazon than they were even on sale for at the store. I have a wide foot and ordering these enough for 3E worked out for me.
Update after a year of ownership: Wore these through the airport for one day, and experienced the bloodiest most blistered painful heels of my life. I removed them for inspection and noticed there is a piece of leather sticking out in both shoes that is a brutal heel slicer. Felt like having razor blades in my shoes. Had to use an after market insert / pad to make them manageable. Very disappointing, given the price point of these, and the AE reputation. I should add that the quality outside of this issue is great, but if you can’t wear the shoes — what does it matter? After a year of ownership, I've experimented with every insert there is, from gel heel cups to arch supports and am still trying to figure out a way to wear these shoes. They look stylish and well made, but they are destroying my feet each time I wear them. Sometimes causing me to limp around for days after.
Retired and wanted a shoe for today's unconventional environment. Needed to return for a wide but everything else was perfect. Price was attractive so ordered second pair.
