I love these clogs! I love the price, I love the feel, I love the look and I love the fit!There is a lot of discussion around sizing, so I will share my thought process/experience...depending on the manufacturer, I wear a 9.5 or 10 Wide shoe. Since I have a wide foot, I ordered these in a size 11 with the expectation by ordering a size up, combined with some stretching of the shoes, then they would come to fit. I'm very pleased to say this is exactly what happened. I received them 2 weeks ago and I have been wearing them for at least 2 hours each day with medium thickness socks to stretch them out. I expect them to continue stretching a bit more, but as of now, they are a little loose when worn without socks, and with socks they are snug and my heel does not hang off the back of the platform sole. Hopefully this helps someone else.
Gotta wear these with socks but they are comfortable, well made and are easy to wear. I've had many clogs over the years but these are particularly well made and at a very reasonable price.
I used to wear clogs regularly in the 1970's and 1980's, then after a move, somehow, my clogs got lost in the shuffle... literally. I have gone "clog-less" for decades, always on the lookout either for a vintage pair that would fit, or for new ones, and here, I find Vollsjö Men's Genuine Leather Wooden Clogs Made in EU.I do believe these are made in Poland, and the construction is solid and perfectly executed for the typical, no frills footwear. I have ordered two pairs, this is the first pair I ordered: An all-wood base with suede leather upper. These, quite simply are fantastic. The other pair I ordered (same price) has a smooth leather and is unique; you'll have to check out that review to learn more. The hardwood base is just that: No frills, and hardwood.When I am asked about the comfort of these, I liken them to walking barefooted on a hardwood floor, only with these, the floor comes with you and is relatively conformed to supporting your feet with every step.The treads on the soles and heels are typical for clogs, quite sufficiently "grippy" to provide good traction. The quality of the leather upper, which covers the foot from instep to the toes, is perhaps not the finest leather, but for the price, it is leather, the uppers are breathable, and with or without socks, the comfort again is right up there on top! I simply love these! Buy with confidence!(Note: look at the photos carefully as you peruse types and styles/colors of leather, as some models feature the all wood base, some are the rubber base with wood veneer insert (I love those too, those are the other pair that I bought, and they are fabulous... check out my separate review for those.)
While I had wanted oiled leather rather than suede, these are darker than I expected so will work nicely and they are very comfortable.
Fit wonderfully
Item arrived about 3 weeks from date of order via UK Royal Parcel Post. The build quality and quality of the nubuck material looks top notch. The fit is a tad large by 1.5 cm compared to Sanita's men's clogs of the same size (43cm). It takes a few minutes to get used to the carved wood as it feels more firm when taking the first few steps (vs the dense foam of Sanita's). After 30 minutes or so it feels equal in comfort including use while driving.I took away one star for the following reasons: the attached resin sole is a tad slippery on hard floor surfaces, so one needs to walk with care when the floor is untextured stone or linoleum; the wooden clogs produce more sound when walking on hard surface; the wooden sole may get soiled or dirty easily (I plan to apply a thin coat of matt polyurethane varnish). The clogs work well on carpeted surface (padded or non-padded).Overall, I am quite satisfied. One just needs to be aware of the product's limitations as mentioned above.
These clogs are NOT "true to size" if you look at the size charts it says a US Men's 13 is equal to an EU 47. Nope. I got the box and it said US 13 on it and EU 45. Even the shoes were stamped 45. If you want to risk buying these, buy a size or two up because you can't trust the size charts.
Seem hard-wearing so far. Made just like the original clogs I wore decades ago. Nice, easy slip-on / slip-off. I feel my feet are kept cool. They are hand-made in Poland, as far as I could tell. I feel good about that. Worth the wait. Super comfortable with cotton socks. Clogs take a few days to get used to, but worth it, and very good for feet and posture, I find anyway. I wear them everywhere now. The size 10 fit was perfect. Stitching and stapling seem robust and I think they will last. The dark blue works well with blue jeans.I recommend them.
