Caught these on sale in my size for $20 and I really love them. They look great in jeans, are very comfortable, and seem durable for casual wear. Very happy with this purchase.
As much as I hate any/all synthetic material shoes, these ones have fine look, size 8 fits as expected.Shoes have plastic soles so they aren't very slip resistant. But I am giving 4⭐ considering price to value ratio.
Comodo
I only used the shoes twice and I already have minor tears in the shoes and the laces are starting to unravel.
Hello folks, hope all is well with you.I will soon need to replace my everyday sneakers and thought I'd give these a try. Turned out to be a good choice. They look and feel like real leather, but are not. They are actually made from manufactured leather. I did some research and found out they do have a small amount of leather in them. Bits of leather, through processing, are made into threads. These threads are then combined with a fabric material using no harsh chemicals. The entire process is environmentally friendly. They are mid ankle high, (at least on me), with a padded top. This feature took a few days to get used to. The sole is made from a material called TPU. It is durable, abrasion and chemical resistant. The tongue has a lacing loop to help keep it in place. I hate when that silly thing slips to the side, don't you? There is also a loop on the heel. As with my work boots, I cut those off. I simply hate the way my pant leg will get hung up on them. Looks silly. Besides, I've never needed them, ever. The memory foam insert is easily removed for when those get worn out.I've noticed some reviews recommend getting a size a bit smaller than what you normally wear.do not take that advice. The issue is with the design of the shoe. Take a look at my picture of the three shoes. The one on the left is my every day sneaker. Note the shorter length and rounded toe. The one in the middle is an expensive dress shoe. The one on the right is the one being reviewed. Notice how two of them have longer, pointy toes. That's just the style. These shoes can be worn as every day footwear, as I plan to use them, or as formal wear. However I wouldn't wear them to a wedding or White Tie event. I would, and have a couple times, worn them to church with dress pants.OK everyone, guess I'm done. If you're looking for a good pair of shoes that are fit for almost every occasion, here they are. Bye now!
These Van Heusen Men's Gainell Oxford Shoes look good, feel nice on, and are surprising in how spot on they are for what I was looking for.I admit, I have a good number of shoes and boots for any number of situations. But when I saw these Van Heusen Men's Gainell Oxford Shoes I was drawn to the look, color, and idea they'd be great as a "causal-nice" boot I could wear with jeans or good pair of slacks/pants. In person they are even better than the pictures - and I don't think my pictures do them justice.Out of the box they look good. A nice, rich dark brown that will give me a range of options for color and style of wardrobe. Sliding them on was easy and once on I literally said outlaid, "wow, these are comfy." Yea, my wife stopped to clarify - I tend to reserve any judgement for at least a few minutes and include walking around a bit. But the cushioned bottom, fit, and hug of my feet was excellent. That bottom... I know they are cushioned and I'm still not 100% on how they'll do for my usually-needed additional arch support, but instantly the bottoms of these shoes felt great. Looking down - I chose a pair of mid-thickness dress or hiking socks - they looked good on. As I write this review I am wearing them and feeling comfortable like a day at work would be easy.I would not use these for actual hiking. Personal preference here, but I see these as far more for casual, casual-business, maybe stretching into a casual-dress - depending on the event. But in general these are not ones I see going out into a desert or wooded area and feeling I've got the right traction or support - again, a personal preference. But I'm happy wearing these out and about, day or evening, in a decent range of outfits. Overall I'm happy. These Van Heusen Men's Gainell Oxford Shoes are also my second pair of Van Heusen and I'm growing to like the brand.
The shoelaces split immediately after the first tighten.
I normally shy away from synthetics, but I'm very familiar with Van Heusen being a mid-tier, good quality company, and figured they were worth a try.First off: these shoes are extremely comfortable. I have very high arches and that makes it difficult, at times, to find shoes that fit properly. These do. There's enough room in the toe box to not create foot problems, but it's not a sloppy fit.Looks: these look very nice and would work well with dress/business pants, as well as jeans. They don't look "fake/synthetic".Functioning: we've had a fair amount of snow lately, then it got into the mid to upper 30's (F), which melted surfaces, then everything froze over again. That means streets, sidewalks, and driveways are covered in slippery ice.I decided to put these shoes to the test and went on a one mile walk and they performed well. For regular shoes, they were definitely grippy enough and, at no time, did I feel like my feet were going to slide out from me.These shoes have earned their 5 stars and I will certainly by other shoes by Van Heusen.
